Since (after the Avs lost games) there was so much focus on comparing to a series versus Vegas a year ago, how about we compare now: Colorado comes out to a 2-0 series lead. They did that vs Vegas, as well. They lost the series. Yeah, we will get posts then about how that Vegas team was a lot better than this Oilers team, blah, blah, blah. Oh, yeah, that's right, I totally forgot that after the Avs went up 2-0 vs Vegas, how people were talking about an impending 4 game losing streak, and how the Avs were in trouble. It's almost like no one was talking about that, so was it really that obvious to most people? Or will you talk about how it was a different series and different team and doesn't apply, etc.
I agree. Why then did it have anything to do with the Blues series, very specifically right after the Avs lost games?
If the Oilers managed to win the first 2 games, the conversation would be radically different, even though they are still the same 2 teams. It's silly.
A lot of Avs fans were VERY confident after game 2's route of the Knights. It seems like a lot of Avs fans are VERY confident after game 2's route of the Oilers. The Vegas series and it's result has literally 0.00% bearing on this Oilers series. Suffice to say, a series can change, and teams you write off or count out, or your own team which you are so confident in, can have things go differently than what you expect.
I'm not going to hope Sakic & Bednar get fired, and the whole core gets blown up off of 1 game, or even from who wins this series, nor am I going to think the series is over and Avs win after a game or 2. I'll celebrate a win as a win, and I'll celebrate the series when the series is officially over. Until then, there's more hockey to be played, and some of the very best hockey players in the world (players in the highest level league) are playing each other, and anyone can win; especially with names like McDavid out there.
