Thank you for the mini post on how statistics can be manipulated.

More penalties were called at that time because more penalties were committed at that time. Did you expect the entire league to adjust to a wildly new standard of officiating overnight? There isn’t a person who was alive for the 2005-ish era who would say the NHL was cleaner then than it is now. The NHL calls fewer penalties now because the players have adjusted to playing a cleaner, less grabby form of hockey. The difference in standards for officiating are gargantuan between then and now. Don’t take my word for it - go watch the video. It’s out there.

You can’t even form a take, bro. This is literal child’s-level discourse.
Again. Measured appropriate responses to your ego meltdown is all it is. Don’t get it twisted and think your take has relevance. I’ve already addressed why your take is a joke and don’t want to waste my time re-explaining it.

"Why don't my ridiculous posts generate substantive responses?!?!"
The people who think my posts are ridiculous are like 3 teenage Edmonton fans in a trench coat who can’t handle derision.

Honestly, the fact that my posts (which are largely directed at how bad the Flames are) are drawing the ire of Oilers fans just goes to show how insecure they really are.

I'll take actual statistics over "opinions from 25 years of watching playoff hockey".
Actual statistics of what exactly? That more penalties were called? Do you really not have the critical thinking skills to understand that more penalties called doesn’t mean less penalties committed?

This might as well be a pre-formatted response for someone who wants to avoid responding substantively to an argument they can’t win.

Can’t argue a non substantive argument in the first place. So I’ve won without even trying. Sleep on it, your ego will recover in the morning.

Mcdavid VS Mack will be fun but this is Colorado in 5

Darcy Keumper VS Mike Smith is a complete mismatch I know Kuemper hasn't been great this playoffs but he's a MUCH better goalie than Mike Smith .

Even if Kuemper doesn't have a great series there is to much firepower on Colorado for Smith to deal with.

I don't think this series will be particularly close

Mcdavid can and probably will steal 1 or 2 games but in the end Colorado is to much for Edmonton to handle.

I think we get Tampa VS Colorado in the finals

Again, you avoid the actual argument like the plague, and then delude yourself to boot. You want to talk about my ego? Lol. You’ve done nothing but feed it with your ad hominem drivel.

I actually can’t believe our conversation even got this far. All I did to spark your obsessive hatred was point out how shitty Calgary played in their series. Says a lot about your faith in the Oil.

Edmonton fans are obsessed with their WCF arrival after a team with an AHL defense took them to 7 games and then beating a paper tiger with the worst goaltending I’ve seen in my quarter decade of watching playoff hockey. Adjusting to a better team is an actual thing.
booooohoooooo. Literally the exact same thing said before the Calgary series began. Whatever you need to do to calm down that voice crying inside your head.

If you want to double down on a bad take that's entirely your choice, but McDavid gets held, hooked, and the likes on a nightly basis and about 95% of it goes uncalled otherwise the opposition would be in the box the entire game. Crosby also went through this, and sure it was more prevalent, but they also called it almost twice as often. I pointed out some stats to back this up, you're telling me to go watch old videos.

Also have no idea why a Red Wing and Leafs fan are trolling in this thread trying to stir up the pot so much. You guys are certainly not putting a good look forward.

You have no argument. There’s nothing to avoid. When your argument is based on PERSONAL viewing experience therefore… mental garbage.

What I actually can't believe is even my 8 year old know when to just shut up. This back and forth is polluting the thread and not offering anything of value. And neither is your going back and forth against Oiler fans in general. Like seriously....what do you offer other than derision?

You are way too confident in your rhetorical abilities. What you think is happening is not what is happening - but please continue. It's entertaining enough.

Are all Edmonton fans really this sensitive? I mean, I’ve seen the Oilers fan-bashing around the boards, but I always assumed it was overblown until now. Is this really how people are dealt with when they deign to question the Oil?

I agree it’s not offering anything of value at this point, since you refuse to engage in any substantive discourse, particularly without ad hominem attacks.

My prediction is Smith will cause a goal by coughing the puck up at some point this series with the heavy Avs forecheck.

That’s a given… just hope it’s not at a crucial time.

Still wouldn’t want Smith to stop playing the puck because he’s the best goalie in the league at it and it’s a big advantage at times. My only advice to him would be to make a quick decision then get your ass back between the pipes.… it’s when he starts to take his time and try to be creative is when disaster ensues.

He needs to pick his opportunities a bit more.....opportunely.

Not convinced in either team's defense or goaltending so I think what it comes down to is Colorado's offensive depth, both up front and on their blue line. Even if McDavid and Draisaitl keep their pace I think it'll still be tough for the Oilers to handle the depth matchups. Smith will have to be a lot better.
