This is revisionist history at it's finest. Yes Crosby dealt with a lot of stuff when he entered the league, but the league at that time called nearly twice as many infractions as when McDavid entered the league. 5.85 Powerplay opportunities per game compared to 3.11. In fact at no point since McDavid entered the league have they called anything more than what was called from 2005-06 to 2013-14.

Avs in 6. I have more faith in Colorado having their stars finally wake up than Edmonton finding depth scoring.

The fact that you haven’t substantively responded to any of my takes says everything. You can’t handle actual discourse and have resorted to ad hominem attacks all night. Like I’ve said many times, I don’t have a dog in this fight, but if I did, I’d be even more confident in my “takes” just based on your non-responses alone. I’m honestly experiencing fremdschamen with how you’ve handled your rebuttals tonight. You’re basically giving me the win everyone you attack me instead of my arguments.

Like I said, it's easy to look big in a division with 0 playoff teams. The Leafs played the defending SC Champs.

If you make it to the Finals and face Tampa, you'd get swept. Then you'd argue you're better because you got swept to them in the Finals. Makes no sense, enjoy your easy path - there's 0 contenders for a Cup in the Pacific.

The last time the Oilers had to play a team not in the Pacific, they got swept.
 
My prediction is Smith will cause a goal by coughing the puck up at some point this series with the heavy Avs forecheck.

Thank you for the mini post on how statistics can be manipulated.

More penalties were called at that time because more penalties were committed at that time. Did you expect the entire league to adjust to a wildly new standard of officiating overnight? There isn’t a person who was alive for the 2005-ish era who would say the NHL was cleaner then than it is now. The NHL calls fewer penalties now because the players have adjusted to playing a cleaner, less grabby form of hockey. The difference in standards for officiating are gargantuan between then and now. Don’t take my word for it - go watch the video. It’s out there.
