Agreed that whoever the Avs play out of the East will be the best they have played by a pretty big margin but disagree on the Blues winning no matter who is in net. I’m not sure if even a prime Hasek could have won that series.

I can go through and post the stats if you would like but believe it or not Colorado actually dominated play and possession more against St Louis this year than they did during the sweep last year. St Louis struggled to even get the puck past their own blue line let alone put together any kind of sustained offensive zone pressure.

I actually think if Binnington plays it might have been over in 5. Not because he’s worse than Husso (he is definitely better) but just because the Blues were really lucky to get to game 6 in the first place and changing any variables would more than likely have them bleeding goals against. Losing any of games 1, 3, 4, or 5 was not a likely occurrence no matter who was in net. The chance differential was off the carts. It looked like an NHL team playing an AHL team.
The Blues were lucky to play against a one eyed goalie and still managed to get rocked. Franky would have sent them home on 5.

I think even with Kuemper playing the way he did the series lasting 5 games was the most likely outcome, all the numbers point to a 4 or 5 game series. Blues just had a very fortunate game 5 to extend it a game.

Avs had 163 scoring chances vs 96 for the Blues. That is a wild discrepancy in only 6 games. No goalie is making the difference in that series.

It absolutely counts. The headhunting goons spent a lot of time in the box. Imagine how much more PP time the avs would have gotten if not for having to swallow whistles because of all the goon time?
Lolol the avs have been benefiting from officiating for the past 4 or so years and avs fans think it's just because they have more possession time lolol

No, I like your "the avs are favored because of their relatively small market" theory. It makes much more sense.

I still like this gem.

That intimidating atmosphere sure was quiet enough to hear pins drop last night after the Kadri hit…
Darn Oiler fans not cheering for an injury to an opposing team. We're not Raptors fans

You of all people would have been up in arms if they did cheer. Your whole prescence on this website is dedicated to disparaging the Oilers lol

Yeah, that was a pretty cheap play. I guess that's how the oilers justify it.
Im just pointing out how it goes both ways. If he wants to list removing helmets as a reason for being dirty, the first instance between these two teams was started by an Avs player.

You can easily look at every team that makes a run on any given year and find plays that people will deem as dirty. I love when people talk about one or two teams being dirty like their own teams never have any of their own lapses in judgement.

Even Crosby blew someones finger up. Would I call him dirty? No.

One team has 3 supplementary discipline this playoff soon to be 4. The other team has none. So go on, tell me which team is the dirty team again? Woodcroft is also a clown with his bush league send his goons out to finish the game ****.

Gotta sort out all the guys this year first though.
There's not really a lot to sort out :

Kadri will be a UFA - at his age, will command more term and $ than the Avs will want to afford. It's fine... I hope he gets a big, giant pay-day from someone!!

Burakovsky will be a UFA. The Avs won't bring him back either. He's a strong offensive player but lacks a lot in defensive awareness. He's probably best suited to play top-6 minutes on a non-playoff team that's rebuilding.

Nichushkin is likely to be brought back. The Avs realize his importance as far as a strong 2-way player and he's a great fit on the Avs.

Lekhonen is an RFA and will be re-signed.
Aube-Kubel is an RFA and will probably be re-signed as he's upped his play in the post-season.

Sturm is unlikely to be brought back unless he takes a fair deal. Rumor has it he wants #3C money without actually ever playing like a #3C... good luck with that. He's a 4th line guy who shouldn't make over $1.75m per year at most.

As far as Kuemper, it remains to be seen what happens the rest of the way during these playoffs.

Landeskog-MacKinnon-Rantanen
Nichushkin-*Newhook/UFA-Lekhonen
Meyers-Compher-Aube-Kubel (RFA)
??????-Maltsev-OConnor

Helm-Cogliano (UFAs)

Toews-Makar
Byram-Girard
Macdermid-E.Johnson

Manson-JMFJ (UFAs)

Francouz

Kuemper (UFA)

Essentially, they have a hole at #2C with Kadri leaving and a surplus on D. They could give Newhook a shot and then look for a rental at the deadline or flat-out sign a guy as a UFA.

The core of the team will still be there and I'm expecting MacKinnon to sign an extension with 1 year left on his contract.

Comprehension at an all time low, talking about the entire game after that moment

Edmonton has had 2 this post seasom, both from Kassian. And I doubt you'll find anyone clamouring to defend his honor. I mean, Colorado took 2 of their own like two days before the playoffs started. But it would be pretty silly to label an entire team dirty because of two guys. At least in my opinion.

And the only thing Edmonton has resembling a goon is Kassian. They're hardly sending out a bunch of face punchers to go and injure.

Forgetting about the Nurse headbutt?

Kane has been trying to run guys all series. Mission accomplished.

Actually I did, and it wasn't listed either for some reason. That was a really stupid play, absolutely.

But my original post was simply pointing out that if removing a players helmet is dirty, then the Avs are guilty of it too and actually did it first. Not to sit here and call them a dirty team.

Kassian was fined for that because he did it while he was on the bench, you can't be doing stuff like that while you're on the bench. If he was on the ice then it would've been a penalty at most.

What does it matter lol? I'd say its more hazardous to pull off a players helmet in front of the net during play than at the bench while it's being blown down. I don't really care that Kassian got fined and Kadri didn't. I don't really see a difference but thats just my own personal opinion. To me, one is just like the other, and honestly I don't think either should be cause for a fine hence why I thought it was a silly thing to list off when calling a team dirty.

"He pulled his helmet off during play, thats not dirty its a penalty!"

"He pulled his helmet off at the bench and it got whistled down, thats dirty and deserves more than a penalty!".

Seems silly to me.

It was a simple observation thats being spun into some argument it wasn't intended to be as I never said the Avs were a dirty team.

Because you can't be interfering with players on the ice while you're sitting on the bench. If you slashed someone on the ice it's a penalty, if you slashed someone on the ice while you're on the bench I guarantee you you're getting suspended.

I don't really care about slashing on the bench. Again the initial comment was clearly lost on you so just forget it. Moving on.
