I gotta go cut the grasss and take the dog to the vet .
Damn swedes ;)

congrats to sweden!

sounds like both teams didn't give their goalies much help, but congrats to lundqvist for the win

any comments on his play in general? his stats aren't gonna look great after this one but it seems like only the first goal was an iffy one?

Good game Swedes ..you deserved it ..our defence sucked and our goalie was horrible .
I dont know how the heck we can fix the D before tomorrow .
We don't have to look for excuse, Sweden were better. New York Rangers should give a shot at Ronnie Sundin when the NHL starts back, he was very good in that game !

Terrific game. Canada got their usual elimination-round scare. The Swedes were full value for the victory. If they meet again in the playoffs (finals?), my money is still on Canada. But it was great to see some exciting hockey.

Sweet, a win. Next time these teams face off, and I hope they will during the playoffs, I hope Sweden can defend a little better and be more active during the beginning of the periods. It was the same thing against the Finns, too passive in the first 3-4 minutes of each period.

The Canadian defense was absolutely terrible. You have to feel bad for Brodeur. He played well for the most part (nice kick save early on in the game). This is Brodeur's first loss in a long time for Canada (not including exhibition games).

He didn't have a great game, but was decent. I think he got himself out of position too cheaply on Canadas third goal.

I didn't see the game. My concerns going into the tourney were our inexperienced coaching, gm, and defense. How did the coaching and jovo do?

BTW, this isn't just a jovo bash. 3 Years ago, Jovo, brewer and Morris were the most highly touted young dmen in the game but they are all sure struggling.

no goaltender is happy when allowing 4 goals, but he made a few big saves too so..
He was screened during the first goal.. and it did not even look as he reacted when Thornton released his backhand.

Looking at the other 3 goals he allowed, he had more or less no chance. Lundqvist looked better than usual with his stick (his only weakness more or less) and he did not allow many dangerous rebounds compared to Brodeur.

Marty is the man. impressive.
well, he had better defensemen defending the net then ;)

The entire defense looked bad IMO. They weren't marking the Swedes very well, and looked progressively tired as the game moved on. I also agree that Souray wasn't very strong defensively. He seems to be getting lost on the big ice, which is a surprise considering he played for Frolunda this season.

Nash is really dangerous, I get scared everytime he stand in front of Lundqvist. But it was stupid to make a hook on the ref...

The twins are really showing they can play the best, and with Zetterberg as well I'm not that concerned about the future any more. It shows we have to lines that can produce.

Tough to watch....stresses the importance of hard work... Sweden also looks good this year. Hopefully Canada will rebound quickly for tomorrow's game.

That's the tough part about this game. They looked tired as the game wore on, and have to play the early game tomorrow afternoon. The Finns might not have all their NHL players there, but they work so hard. It'll be interesting to see whether Canada gets their legs back.

He played in Färjestad not Frölunda. But i still didn´t think he was so much poorer than some of the other d-man.

We've got some more guys under 30 that are pretty decent. Like Marcus Nilson, Huselius and Ekman, a pretty decent line right there. But I like this team, not that many flashy players but they have character and smarts.

What I hope for next year is that some 19-21 year old kid takes the final step to the national team. It's about time..

Luongo would be better suited in net than Brodeur...he's accustomed to porous defence like we had today.

As bad as Jovo and co. played, lets not give too much benefit of the doubt to Brodeur. He was terrible out there. I believe 3/5 of the Swedish goals were from Brodeur flopping on the ice trying to pull a Hasek. His rebound control in this game was aweful, looking shakey on most hard shots to the corners.

Luongo's probably going in for the Finland game tomorrow. Lets hope he fares better.

I was thinking the same thing about todays game.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I agree with that.

Brodeur is a great goalie when the defence in front of his is rock solid. He needs a d-group that can clear his rebounds and such. I believe Brodeur is pretty weak when dealing with 2nd shots coming off from rebounds due to his standup style of goaltending.........leaves him out of position when he kicks the puck away.
