WBS going with 11 forwards, 7 defensemen and that is after calling up Justin Addamo and Maxim Cajkovic.

So might be another reason why Dubas claimed Phillips. Could theoretically send someone else back down. Injuries have ravaged the Baby Pens, too.

Abbandonato will come out of the lineup.
New forward lines will be:

Hinostroza-Gruden-Andonovski
Filipe-Koppanen-Rueschhoff
Joshua-Ansons-Cajkovic
Hamaliuk-Addamo

Pretty sure if they waive Harkins, no sane bloke will claim him and he can play the rest of his tenure in WBS and be of some use at that level.

Phillips will probably head down first, though hopefully once Poulin is healthy Harkins will find his way there and Poulin will come up.

They have enough for 12 forwards these days, even after trading Nylander, but they ran with 11/7 again tonight -- and that was even after making Abbandonato a late scratch.

Also, Gruden with a shorthanded goal. But Harkins is still here.

You got to love Sullivan! And when Gruden is with the penguins he plays less than six minutes a game.
4 to 1 loss. Two short handed empty net goals by Hershey. Why does Hershey always beat the baby pens?

Gruden Back in December (from the 12-16th) averaged around 2mins per game on the PK. Then his last call up on the 15th this month, he got zero PK time. He averaged under 5mins a game even strength, while Harkins averages 8mins (was less than 6mins for like 4-5 games before he got hurt, then came back and played 7+). Could have also been the Pens only took 2 penalties that game.

It's not even like that PK is doing an insane job, they are so up and down by month. October, December, and January they are pretty bad to awful. November & February they're great.

Phillips hopefully gets claimed too, f*** that dwarf, I'd rather not see him as any option. I swear, Dubas is taking the blame for this shit but he never did this sort of thing in Toronto, just random waiver claims for bottom 6 fodder as much as he has here. Through 3 GM's, there's been a pattern that predates Dubas. Dubas actually had bad luck with waivers in Toronto, as in he kept losing players via waiver claims, then he comes here...

Maybe I missed it, but WBS couldn't recall Frasca? He had a 3 game stint before being sent down (has been producing in Wheeling).

Frasca just came off of the injury list on Friday night for Wheeling.

Shocking that an NHL coach would want call-ups to be prepared and capable of filling in. If that's your barometer, then every NHL coach is the de facto AHL GM.

I know Sullivan is your great big Boogeyman, but he's not in charge of the minors. He's not making call-ups. That's the purview of GMs in every NHL organization. That's just how the league works. All you need to do is listen to Dubas' biweekly radio show/TV show to see when he explains why guys have been called up or sent down.
Where is this weekly radio show?

For those who watch a lot of WBS, what are your thoughts on Gruden being able to make the jump to PIT next season as a 4th line/PK guy?
Thanks!

Every Wednesday at 6 on 105.9 the X in Pittsburgh. They've also started filming and airing them on Sportsnet Pittsburgh on Fridays I think.
Ahhh, thank you. Not in the Pittsburgh area any longer. :( I'll see if I can find it online.

Gruden is better in every way over Harkins. It's not even opinion, it's f***ing fact.

Frasca is better than last season but he's still not good. Sorry to whoever had a boner for them.
Frasca I only mentioned as a call up for wbs. Sullivan would sport a red rocket for him and throw him with Geno.

It wasn't you I was referencing but I couldn't recall who specifically. I just know it wasn't you.

Frasca to me seemed like a boring signing at the time, safe nobody that was likely wbs caliber at best. He's barely even that now lol.
Those overager UFAs are way more miss than hit and frequently ECHL fodder. Once in a while there’s a Giordano out there.

Does seem like we have way more success with the college signings.
