One of my favorite bands - Album 3 should finally be arriving soon after nearly 5 years
It's been WAYYY too long and I really only got into them in the past year. Seeing this video was the last straw to start actually listening to them regularly. Pink Mist is the other track I could play on repeat for an hour.

I got into them back in 2017 after accidentally stumbling on their video for Tech Noir while looking for music similar to the song Nightcall by Kavinsky from the Drive soundtrack.

Last week at Parx a horse named Moving In Stereo won as was discussed here.

Yesterday at Aqueduct, a horse debuted in the first race at Aqueduct named Ocasek and placed. I have suggested to two friends, owners, to name a horse Candy-O.

For this thread, I am interjecting with not a song by the Cars but rather the entire album Door to Door.

I don't think I have ever listened to that album. When they came out with "You Might Think," though I liked the song, it felt like they turned a corner into pop, and I stopped paying attention after "Heartbeat City."

I’ll have to revisit that album. I probably haven’t listened to it in over 30 years.

The atmosphere of the band at that time was they were going through the motions. Different and complex vibe. They weren't truly into the exposure that Heartbeat City created. Benjamin Orr lived in Vermont and rural Georgia, far from the glitz. He was at his best during Live Aid in Philadelphia. What a show. He wasn't a showman (David Lee Roth) but he managed to do something remarkable in that he was magnetic in a borderline stoic manner. Ric Ocasek married a model and lived in Central Park but professionally preferred behind-the-scenes activities such as producing music. David Robinson was on an auto show recently and IIRC stated he lived in a very modest apartment in an artsy community.

Heartbeat City rejuvenated the band and made them a household name. Won MTV awards and more., But it was tough to continue that path.

Door to Door isn't going to remind anyone of their pop hits. It was a mature album with some good music. Nothing sensational but it could very well be my favorite (emphasis: favorite not their best) album of theirs and partly perhaps because it got little attention.

See above.

Everything You Say, Double Trouble and Strap Me In are favorites and the title track was called "heavy metal" by some and the perfect conclusion to the album but their careers as a unit with a very audible door being slammed. Fine Line is a sleeper hit that would have been perfect on Miami Vice. I am not a skilled musician so perhaps you have a different take but the craftmanship especially by Elliott Easton is eerie if nothing else on that song.

Continuing the talk from the other thread... I was unaware Pat Benatar was the second artist played. I could be mistaken but I think I found MTV that night and saw the Who's "You Better You Bet." That band's videos were shot in black and white.

The 5th song? I recall it but barely.

The 11th song? Very interesting., A Boston-based band that arose from a very energetic flavor the city was producing at the time.

I don't know #20.

But look at 21! I didn't know a video was made of that song. From Candy-O. And the artwork from that album -- perhaps my favorite album cover -- Candy Moore from New Jersey.

#23 was a cute song.

I had no idea In the Air Tonight was released that early on. I always thought that was No Jacket Required era.

Plan A: An owner-friend informed me another entrepreneur beat me to the punch. Candy O is an unraced but registered 3-year-old filly to Tapwrit who won the Tampa Bay Derby and Belmont Stakes in 2017.

Plan B: Cruiser, Double Trouble, Let's Go, Touch and Go, Don't Cha Stop, Hello Again, Panorama, Good Times Roll, Dangerous Type and Just What I Needed also taken or used (which can be re-submitted). Who knew there were so many Cars' fans in the industry!

Plan C: Misfit Kid or Running To You are available.

Obligatory old man chiming in to say that for the most part - music these days is trash. And get off my lawn.

Saw Delta Sleep, Oso Oso and Microwave last weekend at Union Transfer. Very good show. So it's not all trash, just most of it. It was good to see a packed crowd of 20 - 35 year olds showing up for some real music.

Ronnie Spector made better music on the toilet than Beyonce does with 10 writers and 10 producers.
Jimi Hendrix played better guitar in his sleep on 10 hits of acid than anyone alive today.
Prince was better at basketball than most of these douchers are at singing songs other less attractive people write for them.

Khruangbin is a modern example of great music but won't ever get on the radio because shite like Miley Cirus exists.

Flame away youngsters. Gen X would mop the floor with your intentionally messy hair. Boomer team captain Henry Rollins would rip your arms off and beat you to death with them. He's 5'8" and 62 years old.

Outside of Reaves and Deslauriers - Worrell, Twist, Domi, Probert, McSorley and Brown all have chunks of today's tough guys in their stool. Lindros would destroy both the Tkachuk brothers at the same time.

Haaaa sorry that was enjoyable. Just having some fun!
