Even though this is just pre-season, it's still Drouin's first game infront of the home crowd. I expect him to put in some kind of effort and try to impress the fans. Hudon too. This is his last year to make the team. Scherbie has much to prove still. Either way should be a much better and more exciting game than the last one.

I guess it's all about your mindset. I feel like I have a pretty good idea in terms of what drouin can bring, so the main thing I find interesting about him is just seeing him in the uniform. It's the same kind of feeling I had with Weber last preseason.

I use this time to focus more on the unknowns who are trying to make an impression or force themselves on the team.

I would've protected Beaulieu. It's a no-brainer. Let them take Emelin or Benn, I don't care, at all. Then whoever is left, I keep them and not worry about signing Alzner to an atrocious contract that when you combine it with Shaws, you could have given to Radulov and instead of having two, ineffective players on long term deals with injury histories, and minimal impact on the ice.. You'd have one star player.

We've seen the same pattern time and again, with Bergevin in a rush to sign low impact players to long term deals (DD comes to mind) or overpaying for a fading veteran player (Plekanec). Defensive specialists like Alzner and with far less mileage can be had at much lesser cost and contract commitment. These types of players are routinely developed by organizations. You don't go out and sign them as UFAs for good reason. Would have rather had Beaulieu in tow, at a lesser price.

How much weight did Max lose over the offseason?

He looks much more svelte compared to last year.

Looking forward to Drouin and Hudon. Mete, Carr and Jerabek also.

So is it Streit or Mete that plays with Weber today?

Well at practice this morning apparently it was Mete. So I doubt they will change it right off the bat.

I did read that CJ said that he will try multiple players with Weber. So it shouldn't come as any surprise if it's not Mete the whole game.

RDS just posted it on Hockey 360 that it will be:

Mete - Weber
Benn - Davidson
Streit - Jerabek

Nice mix of a vet paired with the less experienced player.

Lol I have seen like 5 different combinations...

I think this should be the right one:

I still remember when Orprik hot Koivu high in a preseason game several years ago.
