The fact Yzerman moved him, in itself is a reason. He didn't want him around anymore. Case closed.
I'm beginning to wonder if he asked for a trade considering Fester demoted and scratched him.
If you look at the situation, it's pretty typical for a player to get traded to a cellar team when they ask to be traded. Maybe Grier got greedy and asked for a 2nd, and Stevie caved in.
Walman is like an ex girlfriend to some that they cant let go of. Instead of checking social media for posts about her, and for pictures of her with a new man... you check Hockeydb and his stats and reminisce about him even though it was a toxic relationship in the first place.
Come on, give us some slack. This is like when you dump your ex for getting fat, and then the ex goes on to lose 50 pounds. Meanwhile you yourself gain 50 pounds and get a heavy breath walking to the fridge.
It's just tough not to think what could've been!
I like this ex-girlfriend anology, you can also say that she probably would not have lost those 50 pounds if she remained in the relationship.

Sometimes people make prefabricated public statements to control the narrative but from what he said it sounded like he was both surprised and bummed.
Yeah if the reason ever does come out and its something incredibly trivial I would be mad too.Thanks.
Sounds like he was playing injured when he did play. Explains why he sucked at the end of last season. He couldn't win a board battle to save his life, and looked slow at times.
If Fester got rid of a player because the player wasn't putting out enough effort while injured, then I think the issue is Fester. In any case, I'm sure he's done after this season, maybe earlier.
At some point in life, we all reach an age where a grown-up telling us "because I said so" is no longer a valid excuse for questionable orders. If you haven't been paying attention, this team he's assembled is as disinterested in competing as they are dog shit. The fact Yzerman moved him, in itself is a reason. How is this thread still going lol. I check in daily to see if there's something about lalonde kicking rocks or maybe a trade, instead this walman thread is bumped back to the top.
Not sure if you follow the Lions at all, but when the dust settles on this saga, I'm predicting this move will be judged similarly to when Matt Patricia/Bob Quinn traded Quandre Diggs and Darius Slay for being "locker room problems."Yeah if the reason ever does come out and its something incredibly trivial I would be mad too.

Prepare yourself to be mad.
Thanks.

Well, given recent developments, you could be on to something here. We'll see if anything comes to light now that Uncle Fester is gone. This makes me think the reason for getting rid of Walman is more on coaching than Walman having a drug/drink problem or anything like that. The players on the team flat out are playing like they are actively tuning out the coach and have been since March last season when they were in a playoff hunt.
Walman is an outspoken guy, and there are other reports that the rest of the locker room are more introverted. Maybe the concern was that Walman was speaking out against the coaching staff and seemed like a malcontent to management, so moving him was to stop a potential mutiny? The problem now is nobody on the team wants to play for Fester, so all that happened is we paid to give up a good player to protect a bad coach in this scenario.

Probably top 10,All the same, the team would have been better off getting rid of Fester in the offseason and keeping Walman and Sprong.
Another wasted season with no top 4 pick.
Walman was a Fletcher Christian type? This makes me think the reason for getting rid of Walman is more on coaching than Walman having a drug/drink problem or anything like that.
