How abut Greening who won't be claimed. Or Polak and keep 14 forwards. Or Holland who already cleared in the summer.

I think we'd be pretty dumb to waive Leivo myself.

Why? I mean I like the guy, but let's he honest he's never going be a top 9 forward, he will always be what he is now, a good dependable call up that can play a few games in case of an injury, losing him wouldn't be devastating

For me, on the Oilers, it's Pitlick. Low probability anyone picks him up anyway but I just like the kid. If he could just stay healthy.

Caps might send Galiev down if he continues to suck...had an epic year in the AHL a couple years ago, spent most of last year in the press box to avoid waivers....not too terribly concerned if someone takes him but the guy does have talent just not enough to break into our top six and a top six role is the only way Stan Galiev is productive. Grinding is not his game.

If we're being honest, we can't talk in absolutes about what a player who just turned 23 will always be.

Probably Mayfield for the Islanders but I don't see him getting picked up.

Tim Heed for sure for the Sharks. Talented offensive RHD who is essentially already developed. Has shown well in camp but we have 6 NHL defensemen plus DeMelo, who belongs in the NHL and would be disastrous to lose for nothing.

Perfect . Just what the Oilers need a offensive RHD .

Ottawa: Matt Puempel

Boucher wants only 12 forwards which would likely mean Puempel is on the outside looking in.

That said, it's a pretty mild concern. He's had his chances to crack the roster and hasn't. Pretty much every team has their own Puempel type. I still want to believe he becomes a 20-25 goal scorer in the NHL but that flies in the face of most of the evidence at the moment.

Face punching Peluso for the Jets. Most Jet fans would be happy that he is gone. Enforcers are near extinct because other teams do not dress a comparable player in his weight class. I hope he clears and we can bring him up from the Moose if needed on a game by game basis. I doubt that any team would waste a roster spot on Tony P even though "HE's GREAT!".

I know some habs fans have said Andrighetto but I am not concerned about losing him or anyone else. Even if he went to waivers to me he is just a dime a dozen player.

A dime a dozen player is a fringe NHL'er, not a 23 year old who just lead his country (Switzerland.. so basically with no help) in scoring at the World Championships.

The only guy the Oilers can really worry about losing is Yakupov... and it's not like I'd care a whole lot if we lost him to waivers at this point... it's just so concerning that stupid former management wasted a 1st overall pick.

He WAS the consensus #1 pick that year, though. And after the first year, no one was saying anything but good things about him.

I strongly disagree, everything about him screams 2nd liner but his skating which seems improved. Are you forgetting he came up last year with our rookies and put up 4 goals in 5 games before people came back from injury and he went on the 4th line with scrubs and killing penalties for 10 games and then went back to the AHL?

He has 2nd line, 20-30 goal winger potential, and it is very reachable. He is ready. The issue I have is it doesn't seem he is going to be that here. He is going to be another Brad Boyes for us.

for kings, I would say Forbort. Not sure he will be waived, but he might. And then if he is, there's debate about whether any team would take him. He has gotten better. Thoughts? Which team might take him? I don't think he would clear, but then I was asked who would take him.

The Marlies had some pretty impressive scorers last season. The only ones who produced better than Leivo were Nylander and Arcobello. He's big and proved he could score in the NHL with 5 in 12 games in his stint last season. He signed a 2 year 1 way deal this summer. Waiving him after developing him for 5 years to the cusp of the NHL in order to protect Laich and Greening two 30 something grinders who the Leafs had to take on as cap dumps in trade. When they'd likely clear and even if they didn't the Leafs would experience major cap savings. Would seem to be less than intelligent.

Barring someone going on IR the Jets may wave either Lowry or Burmistrov, and may wave Hutchinson as well.

No I am not forgetting that but he's had chances to grab a spot and couldn't and those teams had MUCH MUCH less talent, now look at his competition how do you expect him to break through now?
