No ways! They'd be a 3rd line on a top team, no? Wait: we're in 3rd in the East? Does that mean our third line is our first? I'm having an inception moment.

:sarcasm:

I know it took me by surprise too!

I remember watching last years game against Vancouver and hearing the sports net announcer say that there is no way in hell that Ladd should be on the top line. He's a third line player at best.

...

I was like lolwut?

Good sweet jebus that was seat of the pants...then after Kaners go ahead goal, and clitbums stoopid penalty was a shot Chara took that looked like it beaned The Hains in the melon, and my ****ing ****** ass feed took a dump on itself...well I think it didn't dump but over eager "Furby" swapped the channel as the game was over but I was still streaming the buffered version so I lost the last 4-5 minutes. So I reload thinking it just timed out and I get basketball

I don't care how they get the win, as long as it is a clean W during this tight race to the finish, it is all good.

Bet that is the last time Goj tries to no look cutesy backhand pass behind the net.

I dont know about you HC, but all things considered, Clitsome has done pretty well slotting in next to Buff. It obviously is not ideal, but I'm not going to complain too much about it. He's not a guy that you want to keep there...at all...but he's definitely stepped up I think.

He's definitely like Mark Stuart...although dare I say...more offensively gifted? Its almost like he has a better all around game then Mark does.

speaking of Mark..god that man was a beast tonight! Jesus he looked dangerous!

Is it just me, or has Buff looked...off for the last few games. Almost like he's hurt or something?

I agree Clitsome has been decent enough with Buff for now...but I still think he is playing over his head. He is not a guy that should be out there playing top 4 minutes, IMO. that late penalty was a perfect example, he took a very poor angle at the guy and top end players will burn you with that like the BOS player (Marchand?) did. Limiting his minutes late as a 3rd pairing limits the potential of mistakes like that, but he does bring some good things for a bottom pairing.

I agree Buff has looked off for a little while now. At the start of the year this year he was making all the right reads, passing real well, solid positionally, but lately he has been tossing the puck into bad areas, not getting in position, just...off.

If you look closely on the screen someone is calling him Mcfattypants and a few others are saying he sucks.
I think I can see the date as the end of Jan.

awesome Gif.

I remember asking if someone could do that one but hadn't seen the result before.

I assume YWG made it since it is hosted on his server.

Mine was quick and dirty (like me :sarcasm:), Hammer has a better version. I skipped rotoscoping Kanes fingers. ;)

Oh absolutely not!

I think we would all be pounding our heads against the wall with Clitsome right now, had Pavs not been playing so well right now. I think he's covered for a lot of that top pair.

He's a great depth guy...especially heading into the playoffs.

Looking at the standings right now, I feel pretty confident that we can take any one of Carolina, Toronto or New York depending on how the rest of the season plays out.

Just got back from game and HOLY FML IN A GOOD WAY THAT WAS AWESOME!!

2 ~1/2 periods of "meh"

and then we amazingly go for the kill against the mighty Bruins.

Mark this day, in a month when we are playoff bound - these two points will be the difference.

Something is happening here, folks. Something is happening....

This team is going to make an impression on a lot of people in the next month (and hopefully beyond!)

it is all about April. they keep their heads above water for the next 2 weeks and 3rd in the east is a lock.

April schedule: 8 games vs non-playoff teams. and this is post trade deadline. who knows who Washington, Tampa or Phila will sell off.

100% agree man. If this team can play like this all the ****ing time...like they have been...we'll make the playoffs and maybe even steal a round or something. That'd be cool.

This city would be bonkers if Spring arrives with the Jets in the playoffs.

Energized like crazy , would be tremendous for the city as a whole and the team and fan base of course.

I don't get the hate for Clitsome. Yes he was guilty of a huge mistake, but, he made some great break-ups on rushes, made some great outlet passes, assisted on Kane's goal, and made some excellent pinches. Buff, and to a slightly lesser degree Bogo, had some awful mistakes. Where's the hate for them?

Why is Clitsome always the scapegoat, even when he clearly had a decent game. Is it because you don't have Oduya to hate?

Agree 100%

Don't think many people hate him at all. He's a decent enough #6/7 defenseman. But he just does not have the hockey sense or puck protection skills to be in the top 4. He should not be playing 20+ minutes a night.

People do hate on both Buff and Bogo. Plenty of people were talking about their mistakes. In fact moreso than Clitsome really. I think you are looking for people "hating" of Clitsome.

We just need a more reliable option to move into that role. Clitsome cannot handle having to cover for Buff's gaffe's particularly right now when Buff has been struggling immensely over the past few games. Clitsome needs to be put into a role more to his strength's, ie a 3rd pairing/extra D where he is not facing tough matchups and he can use his skating and hitting more effectively.

Yup going to agree on most points - he's a legitimate 7th or 6th D-man, forced into playing big minutes against top lines, AND having to cover for Buff. He needs to work on decision making, no doubt about it, but he has made big progress since this time last year.

But my perception of his role as the scapegoat is not just me "looking for people "hating" of Clitsome." If needed I'll dredge up the comments, just from this game alone, or I'll go back a few games. Buff, other than two decent rushes, and a couple of nice passes to Wheeler, had a far worse game than Clitsome - why isn't he being crucified? He's by far the better defenceman, yet it's Clitsome taking the brunt of the criticism. It's the A+ guy plays an F game, and gets some mild criticism, but the C- player has a D game and gets shredded for it.

Don't get me wrong, Clitsome's no Bobby Orr or Nik Lidstrom, but why can't people recognize that he isn't the worst D-man most nights, and in fact usually plays a good game (well, okay, there's always one the big mistake per game), really, for a 6th D who should be playing protected minutes, doesn't look all that bad.

I dunno man, maybe the unfairness of it is just getting to me more than it should.
