Not raining on anything.. I had heard/seen a couple things so I wanted to see what was out there... Have not found much but did find this.

Meh, if he doesn’t work out and this season is another wash, we flip him for picks at the deadline.

Some GM will be seduced by the combination of goal scorer + cup champion + 6’1 230 for the playoffs

I am hoping he can find a good part of his 2021-22 form offensively . If he wants more big pay days the incentive is there.

Do you guys remember the days of not doing anything in free agency besides signing ahl level players? I mean who was that random player we signed and gave a press conference too a couple of years ago?

Now it has been 2 years in a row where the Sens have signed notable players in free agency.

Giroux last year. Korpisalo and Tarasenko this year.

Giroux - Stützle - Tarasenko
Absolutely the right thing to do with this line combination. All players are first liners on any NHL team.
Giroux and Stützle will provide defence. Tarasenko is playing off wing, only elite players can do that. Because it is hard to take a backhand pass. Tarasenko has no problem with that. He does not need a creative passer in Stutzle. He needs someone to transport the puck through the middle. Stutzle will do that and more. 35-40 goals for Tarasenko. 40 to 45 for Stutzle.

Tkachuk - Norris - Smejkal.
Smejkal will be a gem. He is more talented then Kubalik and could easy score more then 25 goals. He is versatile and a complete player, build as a rock. I would say he is NIck Paul on steroids.

Kubalik- Pinto - Batherson
Not crazy about this line. Kubalik is very strong and a perfect third liner. PInto is ok. Still has to develop his game a little more. Not the fastest skater. Batherson is just a softie. There are no players like him in Europe anymore. Does not finish his checks, soft on boards. Overall defensive game is just one hot garbage.

Ostapchuk - Greig- Sokolov

Kind of nice being able to spend to the cap, isn’t it?

3 of the last 4 years. Dadonov was one of the bigger names signed in 2020.

Yea, the more I think about it, the more I think that first line will mesh very well, very quickly. 3 smart high IQ players who can score and pass. All can handle the body and all play similar board game. I think Stutzle will be even stronger and more electric which will make Tarasenko feast.

Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson works. We know it works, and we need a lineup to start season that we know can be productive so we can have a great start. Tkachuk can take faceoffs for Norris and his physical play can ease Norris in. They'll also get 2nd pairing which they should feast on while Batherson gets his game back and Tkachuk makes a fool out of defenders.

I also did a bit of a deep dive on Smejkal, I agree he can be an xfactor. Scoring ~PPG in Finnish elite league and then Swedish league in back to back seasons. He had highest PPG out of anyone his age group or younger in both seasons. 6'4 and hard nosed and just 26. I can see 15-15 from him. Jonathan Dahlen(who had worse performing season than Jiri and similar skating ability) scored 22 points and 12 goals in 61 games as a much smaller and worse defensive guy on SJ.

Smejkal-Pinto-Kubalik could be a notable line allowing Greig to thrive in AHL until injury calls him up

That top line is something to really be excited about. I think at worst we see a 60-80-50 statline for that line with notable puck possession presence and effective against all playstyles. That's solid because it will allow Tkachuk-Norris-Bath to feast on 2nd pairings and give them similar statline. With 3rd line having 2 guys who can score 15+ and Pinto, IMO, is gonna have a breakout season.

There are optimists and there are pessimists, some complained when the Sens didn’t delve into the UFA market, and now when they do, some find something to complain about…term salary or whatever…. Some complained no matter what the Sens did or did not do.

there will be some who praised the signing of Giroux, and they will complain in the last year of his current contract that he should be dealt at the deadline, and if not, complain that the Sens get nothing for him when his contract expires.

Eric O’Dell in the summer of 2014 (admittedly I had to look up his name). I remember Pierre doing the presser (not BMurr) which I took to mean as a practice run for Pierre

Batherson is a career 0.70 P/G with a nack of scoring on the powerplay and was 5th amongst forwards in hits on the Sens last year. Only Brady was higher for top 6 forwards. What the hell are you talking about....

Our team is stacked, on paper this is one of the better rosters in the league.
If we are healthy and get the coaching structure we need there is no way this isn’t a playoff team.
Wow that second sentence is doing a lot of heavy lifting

I don’t really know how tarasenko Norris bath works honestly.

Well Tank and Batherson are both dog water defensively so that's putting a lot of pressure on Norris in that department.

But Brady is also pretty bad defensively so putting him on a line with Stu and Tank is gonna be rough.

I dunno lol. f*** it.

Defensively .. our best winger is Giroux. I think to maximize the positives Tarasenko can bring .. he should play with our best play driving C , Stutzle.
Also we want to put Tarasenko on RW. Giroux can slide over to LW with them or on the other line.
Tkachuk Norris Batherson has been good in the past. DJ is going to have to emphasize team D to the forwards and hold them accountable. I think Tarasenko is what he is at this point but Tkachuk and Batherson can develop their defensive games. Kubalik is no gem defensively either and he may be playing with two inexperienced players.
DJ has his hands full and the messages have to get detailed and consistent. We'll see if this coaching staff is up to that.

Interesting they have Sens ahead of the Sabres to win the cup but the Sens behind the Sabres in the Atlantic division standings
