Gorton is twirling his mustache and laughing like an 80s wrestling villain: Kravstov plays the entire season on Traktor who don't make the playoffs, he comes over to NA in gameshape and makes the roster in February, everyone wins in the end.

Lol, and a great point!

Seriously, we just must keep reminding ourselves that with these kids, all that matters is the longrun and we just cannot look at it from any other perspective. The long run is 5-6 years at least from draft to any kind of meaningful impact.

I like Button but not too long ago, on the Elite prospects podcast with JD Burke, Button said he really likes Kravtsov as a winger and not a center. Sure things can change and if he can become a center it's great for us but yeah just throwing that nugget out there.

it really only matters if the rangers say they think he can play center

Kravtsov was the youngest player on his team last year in the AHL. In a league and country he's not familiar with. Players need time to adjust. He's been fine. He's 20 years old.

I don't know why you keep wasting your time answering an obvious troll. You're never going to change his opinion, and he's still going to come back here with the same bullshit shtick about not having enough grit and whatever other nonsense.

Kravtsov has done everything we could hope for after being loaned to Traktor. His teammates still can't finish worth a damn, but all that matters is he's being aggressive pursuing the puck, showing improved skill at carrying the puck through the neutral zone and finding space, and shooting the puck as much as he can. I still have doubts about him being a C at the NHL level, but he's definitely making a case for himself.

So I'll just say this.

I never liked the lias andersson pick. I never felt like he had any more upside than a 3rd liner...max

I've been vocal about that.

I'll also say I did not like the kravtsov pick. Not at all.

With that said I've had time to watch him play since then. To see what his skill set is and his talent level.

There's a reason I'm not active in this thread. I'm not thrilled with some of his decisions but unlike lias, I truly believe there is a ceiling of a top line nhl player inside of him. Not a middle sixer...but a top liner. I feel like he's more talented and has better tools than our current top line rw buchnevich.

He's big, good skater, great vision, pretty smart, and he does play a good enough 2 way game.

I think he's 2 years away from playing in the NHL full time. I think he's got a lot of Upside and I'm honestly not all that worried (as of now).

I still think he's made some piss poor decisions though.

It would be interesting for people to give an honest assessment like this of how they felt about all three of Lias, Chytil, and Kravtsov on draft day; instead of picking out the one(s) they were right about to this point and leaning into those.

For me, if I had to rate from 1-10 how I felt about each pick at the time:
Lias - 3
Chytil - 3
Kravtsov - 6/7

Lias would have immediately jumped to a 5 or so a couple days after the draft, but that's how I felt on draft day, and it's why I try to only talk about prospects in less than definitive statements. Because I'm very capable of being an idiot in any given post.

Hated lias, was ok with chytil but not thrilled. And pissed at kravtsov...I wanted wahlstrom.

Right now I'm still pissed at lias.. happy with chytil and am satisfied with kravtsov.

It would be unfortunate if two consecutive top 10 picks were busts for this franchise

If Kakko and Laf become the franchise players they're projected to be, it won't ultimately matter too much.

That said, I think Kravstov has a future here and will at least be a decent top 6 winger. Lias is more up in the air at this point.

Oh this is fun.

Lias - 2
Chytil - 8
Krav - 5

Lias- 5 (i'd at least heard the name, but wasn't super familiar with the Top 10-15 beyond a guy like say Brannstrom)
Chytil- 2 (Who the f***?)
Kravtsov- 4 (Was spitting mad that we passed on Dobson & Wahlstrom, and that the Islanders got both)
Miller- 8 (Wanted him pre-draft)
Lundkvist- 8 (Wanted him pre-draft)
Kakko- 10 (Holy f*** we won the lottery)
Laf- Tbd, thinking 15

But how you feel about not getting Wahlstrom?

Yeah. I think both Kravtsov and Lias will have good years in their respective countries. We should just let them marinate there and play the waiting game. Kinda forget about them for this coming season. We can definitely do that now that we should have two terrific top 6 players in Kakko and Lafreniere.
Chytil to me is the most important of the three. He's here and will be here. He needs to get his body and strength to NHL level for the 2020-2021 season whenever it starts. I still think he has a ton of potential and without a doubt terrific size.

Pretty spot on. maybe I would switch Lias and Chytil just because Lias was a 7th overall. Only one I would have wanted over Lundkvist would have been Sandin and can't go wrong with either.

Hated the Andersson pick from the get go. Mittelstadt was clearly the more talented guy. But we were sold that he was nhl ready to step into our third line so was at least excited that we might have filled a hole.. until I saw him at TC.

Was so so on Chytil didn’t know enough about him think that was basically everyone as NYR swung for the fences there and came away with a steal. But the anger from taking Andersson overshadowed the rest of the draft for me.

I was very pissed off about Kravtsov over Wahlstrom on draft day but that subsided very quickly as I got to know more and more about the player over the next few days weeks and months.

Lias was the no brainer bad choice and when I saw him in Traverse City well you all know my feelings really came out then and haven’t changed

Sure, but other franchises have survived it.

See: Hawks with Barker and Skille.

Bit of an odd comment to toss in this thread considering how hard Kravtsov has been killing it so far though.

In most instances, I personally don't get too excited about what happens in other leagues until it translates to the NHL. Until then, I'll temper my expectations.

What I saw in a video clip of Kravtsov recently, I liked.

So, think of Chytil as the high end pick at 7OA and Barron as the safe choice at 21OA. Problem solved.
