I cant smash the like button enough about the expectations people have of 18 yr olds in the league.

The McDavid, Barzal, Matthews, Laine type of immediate impact is the exception not the norm.
I actually think that on this board, most people are quite realistic in their expectations for teenagers in their rookie years. Kravtsov leaving, some of the subsequent interviews he gave, and struggling in the KHL upon his return, IMO, are what caused people to sour on him. He did good by coming back to play, and working on some elements of his game that were lacking, and largely keeping his mouth shut. Honestly I believe had he played the entire year in Hartford and recorded 25 points in 60 games or whatever he was on pace for, I think there would be much less doubt and negative feelings about him.

I think people are willing to be patient, but if you do something that is perceived as spurning the organization (rightly or wrongly), people's perceptions will change quickly. Same with Lias--people were down on his game, but it wasn't until he walked away then gave shitty interviews that a real level of disdain for him emerged.

Kravtsov just had a great chance on PP. This time he played (very competently) in the middle bumper spot. Had a deflection and also a very dangerous shot off of rebound.

uh Barzal was 20 and 2+ years from his draft when he made his debut. Agree on the others though, that shit is rare.

They look like Off-White clothes lol

They removed the color from the logo to make ULTRA MODERN and monochrome but that just limited them even more. A nice red or yellow accent would have gone a long way.

Well whatever, if Krav keeps it up before long he'll be wearing our beautiful blueshirts and I'll never have to see these again lol.

It's more a throwback to the design they used decades ago

Strong along the walls, went to the paint, could have easily gone 1+2.

A lot about his game screams center though that will draw the ire of some.

Looked great. Played fast. Also looks like a center to me

Been saying this since he was drafted, and even before he was put in the middle on the WJC team. That pass from behind the net... where the guy should have one timed it... to me say high end playmaking center.

You take his gifts, and have him as a controlled zone entry center down the middle with way more room on the ice when he's going into the offensive zone, with four short tape to tape passing options, you are getting a guy who can create for others, while breaking defenses down.

The shot block and puck retrieval was good to see... if you combine that defensive effort, you get a player who can flat out dominate the ice when he's there. It was good to see some of that raw natural talent come together in different elements of the game.

The size, speed, skill quotient is off the charts, it's just a matter of effort and application.

Happy to hear he did well and Traktor wins. I’m rooting hard for Traktor this year to do well. Maybe it doesn’t mean much maybe it does but I want him to experience some winning/good vibes again. Sure we all want him to put up numbers like he did in his first playoffs in the KHL but more importantly not be on a crappy team. Come here fully ready in 2021-2022 and be a serious contributor on what should be a very good team.

He's starting to drive the play more consistently. For me, when it comes to forwards on the cusp of breaking in, this is the #1 thing they need to do to get to the NHL.

Chytil was doing that every time he hit the ice in HFD.
Gauthier was doing that every time HFD played the Canes minor team.
Andersson showed flashes here and there of doing that, but was still a passenger at times.

And you could see the signs of VK doing that towards the end of last season in HFD. You could see he was starting to play different and figure it out.

But the big difference is, HFD plays a very structured system. Very simplified offensively. And to play that way successfully offensively, it really requires strong puck support and if there aren't multiple forwards on a line with strong offensive IQ, creating offense is a challenge. When PDG and Fogarty were called up you could see a noticeable dip in overall team effectiveness. Too much structure not enough skilled puck support.

I'd be curious to know from anyone who is watching the Traktor games, what Traktor's system is like and how it's different offensively. Seems like more open ice than in HFD.

#56 did close to nothing while #3 gave the puck back and defended horribly infront.

kid’s stats look nice and he’s physical.

I rather have a player who dishes out effective hits instead of a player who just hits 3 times in 10 seconds and still doesn't have the puck
