New Yorker Visiting Minneapolis This Weekend (Desperately Needs Help/Advice)

Hey Wild fans. Rangers fan here coming in peace. I'll be in Minneapolis Thurs night-Sun for a wedding and obviously Game 7 of the ECF is a must watch. Two questions;

1) If we go to Target Field on Friday, is there a bar or area that will guaranteed be showing the game? Some of my friends are leaving early Sunday morning and this will be there only chance to see a Twins game. This would be our ideal scenario to do both at once. Not the best way to see a ballpark of course, but better than nothing.

2) If you all feel that the game will bot be showed at Target, what good hockey bars in Minneapolis do you recommend that will be showing the game?

Any and all information is appreciated. Thanks for the help and when I'm done with grad school, I'm coming back just for a Wild game!

Thanks everyone!

What about Target Field? Do they have a bar or area inside that would have the game on? In NY we have the Hard Rock Cafe at Yankee Stadium and the Excelsior Club at Citi both are pretty much in the stadium but show other games.

I'm trying to help my friends out who only have one non-wedding night in Minneapolis but who also want to see a Twins game.

I'm pretty dang sure they will have it on somewhere at the game. I feel like I've seen people talking about that on twitter.

Hubert's is on the same sidewalk as Target Field - that would be my recommendation.

There's Hrbek's at Target Field.

I've never been there, though, so I don't know if they have TVs on playing other sports.

Might be something to check out pregame, though.

Are there good pizza joints in the Twin Cities?

If my information is correct, pizza joints in the Twin Cities are nowhere near the same level as one would have in NYC, Montreal or other major cities with major Italian presence.

Cosetta (Blackhawks ate there when we had our series last year). Very good pizza.

Punch Pizza.

Mesa Pizza at the U.

I don't know where it stands among pizza snobs (I'm definitely not a pizza snob, I still enjoy a Jack's pizza from time to time), but it's damn good.

My friends are massive foodies, and they'd stack us against pretty much any major cities.

The thing is most people from cities with some item refuse to accept something as "as good or better" than another and won't actually say they have a bias.

I dunno, as compared to legit pizza cities like Chicago or New York, I'd say the Twin Cities kinda sucks. Mesa and Luce are both good, but feel kind of gimmicky. Not that I don't love a mac n cheese pizza slice, but meh. Savoy is solid, Pie Shoppe and Carbonne's are decent. Old World Pizza is prolly my fav place of them all as it is spot on to how pizza was made by a lot of the Italian places where I grew up.

But all of those can't hold a candle to Gino's East

See, and I think Chicago is overrated and isn't that great (this includes Gino's). Their hot dogs too. Gross.

Detroit Coneys for the win.

Carbones on Seventh has the best ovens out of any of their restaurants - they make my personal faovorite pizza in the Twin Cities. Savoys on Seventh (Downtown) also has the best ovens out of any of their other restaurants - this is a pretty known thought of the folks.

I would stand by both of those - along with my earlier statements about Cosetta's.

I also think Little Oven (WBA and Minnehaha) is very good.

These are all "St. Louis style" pizzerias though - square cut, somewhat thin(er) crust pizza.

It's like comparing an apple and and orange if we're comparing these places to East Coast pizzerias.

Chicago-style pizza is pretty mediocre. It tastes like I'm eating a tomato with cheese on it.

Although I love a Chicago-style hot dog.

The actual hot dogs aren't bad, it's what's on them.

Though Hebrew nationals and Fenway Pahk dogs are my favorite (aside from Detroit Coneys....mmmmmmm).

The one thing I will say about our food here is that the stuff at the X is pretty lacking. It's a good thing I go there for the hockey.

Nothing wrong with that. Since I like thin crust more than deep dish, sometimes I actually prefer Jacks and Tombstone over anything else. Can't beat the price either.

I've never tried Mesa Pizza, but my son swears by it.

Mesa in uptown has pretty good pizza. A short walk from all the bars and they're open late. They do lots of crazy combinations of toppings and they usually work. I tend to go simple pepperoni, salami and whatever veggies happen to be on it. I like thin crust pizza if it's on the crispier side. Otherwise, I really like the Loaded Tot-zza from Toppers. Nacho cheese, tater tots and bacon? Always a drunk people pleaser.

Wait, there's a Mesa in uptown, too?
