Wouldn't that be an abuse of parking privileges?

I know it's illegal to park in a handicap spot even if the car you are in has handicap plates if no one handicapped is present in the car.

Not sure how the US law works, but that would definitely be illegal over here. And I'm not sure if gloating about it is a good idea.

I always do the RiverCentre, the one time we've been forced to park in the Science Center it was brutal getting in and out and my buddy who has had tickets since the Wild's inception REFUSES to park there unless he/we have to.

You just must have better luck perhaps?

I'll be at the Boston game too, should be good craic. I know visiting teams stay at the St. Paul Crowne Plaza hotel, but not sure how you get autographs from them, but that's what some have done in the past I'm told.

Coming in from Kellogg, take a right once you get in the ramp and park on the bottom level. Nobody ever goes down that way, but there's a second exit down there that they open up after games. Everyone else is lining up for the main exit, but you can be in and out in 2 minutes every time.

Interesting. I always park at the bottom of the RiverCentre --- easiest way out as well, and one of my friends has horrible feet so we use the elevators and at least we need to get to the bottom floor since he can't walk it most times, especially when it is icy as hell.

Yes because I'm sure there's St. Paul cops (or whoever the authoritative figures that decide parking restrictions in St. Paul lots are) reading this thread that know exactly who he is and are just waiting to ticket or tow him right?

Since i don't have anything planned, i might just head for some city with great hockey, although the seasons are drawing to a close, especially college - how about high school?

hi, a group of us are visiting the X on apr 5 for the wild/pens game. we have a few kids that would really like to get autos or pics with some of the pens players. is there a regular entrance the visiting teams use before the game or for morning skates? and if so, usual times they show up? any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks

One of my friends I was chatting with a few weeks ago called Minnesota "Scandinavia in America" and he's totally right (and not just because MN was settled by a ton of Scandinavians). It's beautiful, safe, and clean. The cities are just the absolute perfect density; they're spacious and green but there are still lots and lots of areas you can get around without a car (though you're limiting your options a fair amount). South Minneapolis, Northeast, Uptown, Lyn-Lake, Dinkytown, Lowertown St. Paul, Summit, Cathedral Hill...there are lots of great little neighborhoods. The buses are fine and the light rail is great but not super extensive. There will (finally) be a light rail connection between Minneapolis and St. Paul starting in a few months though. It's hipster central, with an awesome arts scene and tons of active people out and about in the parks even in the heart of Minneapolis. And yeah, it's just about the best place south of Canada for playing and watching hockey at every level.

I think the only thing any of us know for sure is that the visiting teams always stay at the St. Paul Hotel which is walking distance to the X, and some people have run into players in that general vicinity.

Its private parking that can only be accessed by employees from that one clinic. I should have been more specific and included that she heads the Cancer group in both St. Paul and Minneapolis and each have their own private parking.

Someone might have a better/more definitive answer than me, but I feel like the visiting team has their morning skates usually shortly after 9 AM, maybe closer to 10 AM.

When they do the radio show from the penalty box, it seems like not too far into the show (starts at 9) they comment on the other team out for morning skate.

I have a couple of questions:

What's the best time to get to downtown St. Paul so I actually have time to find a spot to park and grab a bite before a game? (I'm going to the April 8 Tuesday night game v. Boston)

Total shot in the dark: is there any place to find out about morning skate visits/autograph stuff with the teams earlier in the day?

I'll be going to the same game. I have seen the Bs play there in the past and waited outside the St. Paul Hotel for autographs and have had some success. However I was just on the Bs website and it says nothing about a morning skate that day. Also I have friends that attended tonight's Pitt/Wild game and they said the Penguins stayed at the Westin in Minneapolis. They asked people at the game, and they had told them that the Westin is the 'new' NHL hotel. Still hard to believe since the St Paul is so close to the arena. Needless to say, my friends hung around the St Paul Hotel for no reason.

Just want to say; anyone thinking of heading to a Wild game from out of town; DO IT.

I did a road trip to Manitoba this year from Ottawa. On the way I saw a few games (Toronto in Columbus, Min in Chi and Chi in Min) I am a Leaf fan. The rink is one of the nicest I have been too. The fans are great. Just the passion, and how knowledable the fans were won me over. You are actually going to a hockey game. The basis of the event is hockey. Its not hockey in the backround with BS fake entertainment going on.

Going to the game actually made me love the town and the team. They are now my second favorite team (still a leaf fan first, don't hold it against me!)

Also thank you to the wild fans for one of the most enjoyable games I have ever gone too. I hope to be able to make my way back down again!

Hello Wild Fans.

I am moving to Minnesota and have a few questions to ask so I though I would try here. If anyone can lend a hand much appreciated.

The line of work I do allows me to work from home but due to a need to have an in face meeting in the twin cities area once a month for the next few years I am looking to move to MN. I have been there a bunch over the past few years but thought I would ask you guys where you felt the best place to live might be.

I am looking to buy a place with acres in a wooded part of the state (forrest setting as much as possible) and have looked around the Park Rapids area which I liked and also above the Duluth area as well.

That is really my only one requirement. Just an area of the state that is known for its woods and I will take it from there. I don't need schools or nightlife just a nice open wooded area. Any help or insight would be appreciated and congratulations on a good season. You guys look like you will take the next step next season and have to like your chances at picking up the cup in a season or two.

Obviously the further away from the metro you get, you'll be able to find more land and wooded areas. From my understanding, east and west of the metro is more expensive than north and south.

Yeah if you drive 20-30 minutes out of the city limits in any direction, you'll hit relatively wooded suburban areas. 45 minutes out and you can get a pretty big chunk of forested land on the cheap. There's no need to go all the way out to Duluth just to get some woods on your property (though that's nothing against Duluth––lots of people say it's a great place to live).

If you want woods just drive up US 169 north from Elk River towards Grand Rapids. It's all woods after about an hour or so.

Now that I think about it, definitely go north if you are looking for like, forest type stuff. When you go south, you get more of a farm country vibe. Especially once you get about 30-40 miles south of MSP.

Thanks to some professor I asked some advice for my personal statement, I see it fit to apply to the University of Minnesota for a physics PhD. Perhaps there are interesting stuff (other than Gophers hockey games) around UMinn main campus for a graduate student...

If you're asking me what credentials I might have to even make sure I am not taking bad advice concerning UMinn, I will happily provide them by PM.

Gopher hockey tickets are a must.

U of M campus is also right by downtown Minneapolis, which has tons to do. I'm obviously biased, but I think it's a great school, loved my time there.
