Visiting LA? Where to go? What to do? Ask here

I think you mean Indio... I've never heard of indigo. Indio is in the middle of the desert and abou 15 or 20 miles east of Palm Springs. It is primarily a resort/retirement area and will probably be pretty hot even this time of year. I'd guess high 80's or low 90's but it gets 100+ in the summer regularly. There are a lot of casinos and golf courses out there. There is a cable car that goes to the top of Mt San Gorgonio which might be a decent touristy thing to do out there. I think there are some hiking trails at the top of the mountain. It is interesting to see the difference in climate and ecosystem as you climb in altitude. There is prob still snow on the mountain from the last storm too.

BC is over 1000 miles away. That's a long drive... 2 or 3 days I'm guessing.

First off thanks for the info lol Sorry i was going with the way my mother said it to me So yes i ment indio Yes my parent a very much retired so that is spot on. Golf course sounds good maybe get a day of golf in Public courses im thinking green fees plus clubs + chart + balls etc 100 ish ? Thanks for the weather there this time of year so im packing shorts for sure lol Yes its going to be a long drive with sister and mom major part of it is to get the car to bc so thinking longer then 3 maybe 4days cause im heading to the vancover island. the 15 20 miles is great news as im leaving here at 5 am and getting to palm springs at 5pm so that ride is alot shorter then i thought looking at a map (Phew) Thanks again greatly for the infor

Dude... Golf is cheap out there because there are so many courses. I can't give you any specific advice but my Dad has a place in La Quinta and we played a real nice par 72 course for like $30 with cart. Club rentals can't be that much but just use google for some nearby courses or perhaps your relatives will have suggestions for good values but $100 should be more than enough for a decent course.

Have fun.. This is definitely the time of year to be there. I find it miserably hot in the summer. Oh and definitely get a cart while golfing. Walking in the sun will suck the life out of you.

I m not sure the name of it I really didnt pay attension since i really never thought id ever see so why tempt myself. The wheater will rock is its -5 c here (which is warm to me lol for the time of year) Here its like 30 to step on the course then another 30 for chart I have no idea for for clubs and decent balls are like 2 -3 a ball and i no pro( i havnt played any golf in 3 years even then i was a 19 hanidcap ) so ill get 12 lol to make sure i can last the course lol I wouldnt golf without one i m not a fan of carrying clubs lol and ty im sure i will It will be nice to see grass in march lol

Hey guys, tomorrow I'm stuck at LAX airport at the Sheraton.

Any sports bar in the area where I could watch the UFC event?

Thanks

Hey guys! I'm taking my girlfriend to LA at the end of May, and it happens to be here birthday around that time, too. I'm trying to think of a cool LA area thing we could do together for the occasion. It doesn't have to be anything super romantic or anything, that's not really our style... just looking for something fun to do. I've ruled out the idea of amusement parks since I'm looking for something a little more unique.

Any help?

May is usually Beach weather so Venice Beach, Santa Monica Pier are just a few beaches that come to mind. Learn to surf if you guys are up for it.
Not sure what you guys are up for so some detail might help me. Likes or Dislikes.

Venice has gondolas. Find a package that includes lunch or wine and make a day of it.

Ok the gondolas may be near Long Beach

We're into trying pretty much anything.

Now I'll try to be a little less vague.

Both into sports, and good food I'd say would be tops. Just going for a walks or the like is also nice, but not sure about turning that into a birthday type thing. Her birthday is a couple of weeks before we go, so I was looking for something pretty cool for her(/us) to be looking forward to doing.

These 2 cities are actually pretty close to each other so you can make a day with the below.
Vince - Walk the Boardwalk, Go to In 'n Out
Santa Monica - Learn to Surf, hit up the Pier.

What kind of food?

LA has some of the best restaurants in the world and a city as diverse as LA has every ethnicity.

Do you like Mexican?

http://www.elcholo.com/

El Cholo is an LA institution and their margaritas are like drinking grain alcohol.

IS there anything specific you are looking to do that you can't do in Mtl?

If you are looking for restaurants and bars...here are a few to check out:

Orochan Ramen in Little Tokyo
Manuel's Original El Tapayac in Boyle Heights East L.A. (Unreal burritos)
Phillipes near Union Station off Alameda (Best French dip in the state in my opinion.)
One-Eyed Gypsy near Little Tokyo (Great little bar to catch a ska/gypsy punk show and have some drinks)
Father's Office in Culver City and Santa Monica (Great beer selection, great food)
Good Microbrew and Grill in Hollywood on Sunset (Absolutely fantastic world beer selection)
Cat and the Fiddle off Sunset and Cahuenga (English Pub, very good bangers and mash and a great terrace eating area.)
Canter's Deli in the Fairfax district (Best Reubens EVER.)
Redwood Bar on 2nd Street in Downtown. (Pirate theme bar, how can you go wrong?)
Pretty much any place to eat on Olvera Street near Union Station is going to have awesome Mexican food

aaaand guilty pleasure if you can hit up Pink's Hot Dogs you most DEFINITELY should.

Just a few of my favs to visit

I am looking for a bar that will show Habs playoffs games during the first week of May. Any hockey bars in the LA area?

Hit Trancas Starbucks. You might see a movie star or someone famous!

Coyotes fan coming in peace. I'm looking at tickets for the last regular season 4/24 game vs the Coyotes. Which side are the benches on? I'm looking at some tickets in 204. I just want to make sure that's the Yotes attack twice side and that it's opposite the side with the benches. http://www.stubhub.com/anaheim-ducks-tickets/anaheim-ducks-anaheim-honda-center-27-4-2013-4221167/

Just a big heads up here as the Kings don't play the Coyotes anymore this season. That match-up is vs Anaheim and the Ducks board would be a better place to ask.

Sorry for any confusion that was caused here.

Wow, talk about a terrible hangover. I'm an idiot lol. Thanks AP

Heading down in a few weeks... Would you recommend seeing a dodgers or angels game?

Oh and I'm staying in Valencia if that factors in at all

Yeah we were leaning towards them as well. Wanna see Puig play. Any reviews on Robinson Ranch golf course as well? Or any courses near Valencia.

Robinson ranch is a very nice course by my standards. My work had a charity tournament there once and it is probably one of the nicer courses I've played. I usually play on county or public courses though.

I'd agree with going to dodgers since they are closer to you and the better team. I personally hate everything about dodger stadium other than the way it looks in pictures. Although i havent been there in 3 or 4 years since theyve done some more renovations. I love going to games at angel stadium and hanging out on the outfield patio on a nice summer day.
