Late on this but I think everyone saw it coming. Pretty crazy that 40+ years later hes done; gonna be weird not having him as the face of the company anymore.

How relevant was streaming 7, 10 years ago? Consumer viewing habits changed. No professional wrestling company will ever get 5 million again.
Let me introduce you to a very important concept: brand.

WWE is a brand that has been around for a LONG time and has been associated to being "the wrestling company" for over 20 years.

AEW is an upstart company that started from absolutely nothing. Comparing the ratings for both is rather idiotic. It is idiotic when TK plays with number to brag and it is idiotic when you do it to serve your trolling agenda. It is fun to look at the numbers, but concluding AEW sucks because their ratings are lower than WWE is misguided... at best.

Lol he covered up DV that led to murder, total SJW shit to think that’s wrong. And that’s before the recent Pervy and rapey stuff.

LOL.

Yeah, Vince actually was able to pay off the cops in a f***ing MURDER INVESTIGATION because Bix and Vice said so.

Give me a break with this bullshit.

Oh, and for those actually trying to debate that AEW's ratings don't matter (lol) tell that to any network president, or advertiser. Even the WWF at its lowest commercial point under Vince (New Generation) pumped out excellent matches because guys like Bret, Kid, Owen and Razor could go, and Yoko could move before he unfortunately ate himself out of the business, and then ultimately to death.

AEW doesn't suck because of its low ratings, it sucks because it's flippy, non-psychological bullshit that looks like it belongs in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

Look at their "stars"
I know bouncers that would beat the f*** out of Eddie Kingston. Guy looks like the annoying cousin at every family bbq who gets too f***ed up and complains about his loser lot in life and how no one will help him out.

Darby Allin looks like the tryhard younger brother of Shannon Moore when Moore was doing that godawful Prince of Punk gimmick and further looks like he's 120 pounds soaking wet.

CM Punk lost every shoot he was ever in. Losing to Mickey Gall is one thing, no shame in that. Getting your ass handed to you by someone who's basically an MMA journalist is quite another.

I can totally suspend my disbelief that Wardlow is the absolute killer he's made out to be (and here's hoping that kid finds himself out of there because he actually has a shitload of potential), when he's getting play-kicked by another guy that doesn't look like he could fight his way out of a paper bag, and again, looks like he's about 150 pounds.

Mox can't throw a working punch to save his life and the Onita cosplay was ridiculous, but at least he looks like a wrestler and has a modicum of charisma. But even the stuff they initially do correctly (the Jurassic Express rift) is hot-shotted within three weeks because their booker is a pathetic fanboi that panders to twitter blue hairds.

That doesn’t change the fact that viewership and interest is decreased. WWE hasn’t run a full house show schedule for reasons.

'Trolling agenda'??

Okay, I'll gladly take the infractions if I've broken any actual rules here, by all means.

Ratings do matter, a lot.

The comparaison between both companies does not really matter, especially when they are not competing head to head. Dynamite does not do as well as RAW but still regularly win its night in the demo... which is what matters to advertisers.

At the end of the day, AEW will make its money no matter if they "beat" WWE or not. Both shows have different audiences and it is fine.

I would assume NBC buying them still makes the most sense.
NBC Universal is the most "natural" partner, I agree.

But, honestly, I could see any major content producer being interested: Netflix, Amazon, Disney, NBC Universal, etc.

WWE is a huge brand with a HUGE library of content + a lot of current programming. If Lucasfilm got 4B 10 years ago, I do not see why WWE could not get 5B today.

Which is why Smackdown regularly hits 2.0 to 2.5

Which is why RAW hits around 1.5

And why AEW despite their horde of talent can't draw one million people. Yeah, no Vince's system is SO irrelevant.
One company has been around for decades while the other hasn’t even been around for one yet and ratings doesn’t equal better product AEW puts on a better show than WWE right now and I have been watching wrasslin since the late 90’s

The real original Bro thinks Vince's retirement is a farce

I would probably lean towards the same feelings if the SEC and legit government investigations weren't happening, and this was all still just mostly a PR issue

Fightful claiming Vince has forfeited his stock in the company with the retirement, which means he really is gone gone, and there won't be any hurdles to a sale if that is where they go (and why not? They will get a lot in a sale)
