Apparently Vince sent the following text to all the talent after his retirement announcement:

To all WWE Superstars:

As I approach 77 years old (OMG am I really that old?), I feel it's time for me to retire.

I've thoroughly enjoyed sharing my passion, wisdom, and love of the business with you.

No longer will you see the smiling, docile, level-headed, calm presence at Gorilla every week.

Your dedication to WWE will ensure that our company will continue to grow and prosper.

Our organization is nothing without you.

You are WWE's only natural resource, chosen to perform in front of a global audience.

You are all WWE Global Ambassadors.

Carry the WWE flag wherever you go.

Wave it high and proud.

And bust your ass to be all you can be as a person and as a performer.

One other thing-I won't be with you, but I'll be watching.

Remember to keep your hands up, grab a hold, and sell.

BTW, SmackDown airs live tonight at 8pm Eastern/7pm Central on FOX.

Vince

Fightful reporting that people think Kevin Dunn will go as well, probably not tonight though
If the dizzying camera cuts go away the shows already get considerably better.

I don't think that WWE will get much better, but there is at least a chance to now escape the endless sub-mediocrity that has been the norm in wrestling for a very long time.

I think more people will come back to check things out as well.

I would think that there will be curiosity, as no one has seen WWWF/WWF/WWE without Vince in charge (barring steroid trial stuff) for 40 years.

Today, era with all this facebook twitter and online behind the scene news, wrestling as a show isnt much interesting anymore. Plus the ongoing MMA rivalry...

"Btw smackdown airs live tonight at 8pm..."

Hell baby
Here come the dumb marks that started watching in 01 and the SJW's to shit on Vince.
Lol he covered up DV that led to murder, total SJW shit to think that’s wrong. And that’s before the recent Pervy and rapey stuff.

Your 77 year old daddy Mac is gonna burn in the River Styx. Probably worth it for the life he’s lived but I’m glad a shred of justice has caught up with another powerful scumbag. Guys like Paul London saying he’s shocked it’s taken so long for this kind of stuff to come out.

He knew the text would get leaked so might as well plug the show. Honestly brilliant

Let Triple H do the booking and let his production guys from NXT do the production on the main roster. Make this thing feel organic for once in the past decade

I've had a short time to digest this and I'm convinced that Vince is just gonna privately harass the living f*** out of H and Stephanie now that he's gone. They're gonna wake up on the morning of SummerSlam to messages like "Make sure he makes Roman look really, really strong!! Goddamn it Roman needs to look strong!!!" Ya know. As if people didn't know already

He may no longer have any actual authority anymore but why do I feel like he's still gonna stick his nose in at every turn?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this company is going to die a hilarious death unless Vince McMahon's vision is continued.

Vince was the only one getting wrestling to draw past over one million people and well over it in fact. The NXT indy terrific style that was embraced by HHH and Tony Khan is only popular by a vocal minority audience and doesn't deliver any actual ratings or firepower whatsoever.

How long has it been since Vince had a positive impact on WWE product quality?

He’s still the biggest shareholder, he absolutely still has his fingers on the button

You’re vastly overrating modern McMahon. That *was* the case. Hasn’t been the case in years. They’re gonna be better without him at this point.

Which is why Smackdown regularly hits 2.0 to 2.5

Which is why RAW hits around 1.5

And why AEW despite their horde of talent can't draw one million people. Yeah, no Vince's system is SO irrelevant.

That doesn’t have much to do with the current product and mostly has to do with the fans that were made 20+ years ago have stuck around. That number is dwindling more and more though, and the average viewing age is going up and up

Good argument
It truly is. No other company is bringing in viewers. TNA had this same problem back in the 2000s and they actually had a better product than AEW. You cannot cater to a small group of the IWC and expect to become an industry leader. NXT 1.0 failed miserably because there was no character development and it put little emphasis on what made wrestling great to begin with. Characters, spectacle and storyline and not two generic lolwhos in black trunks putting on 40 minute matches.

None of these people can cut promos anymore, much less look like they can throw a proper punch. Having guys out there that look like professional twitch streamers isn't going to win new people. Having superstars that look like Roman Reigns will.

Reigns
McIntyre
Lashley
Lesnar
Cody

Those are your draws.

Thank you Mr. McMahon. In my opinion, the greatest of all time. And surely on everyone's Mount Rushmore.
The greatest wrestling character of all time outside of Hulk Hogan himself
