I don't know, I thought Toronto carried the play in the early stages of the game. It's better to be good early than late. MacIntyre made some crazy saves but how many times did Texas miss the net, flub the shot, or just delay too long? Frustrating game.

Obv sucks to lose game 1, but hard not to feel optimistic for the remainder of the series with the effort the last half of the game. Kinda game 1 v the Ducks feel to this one.

So that was a very rough way to start the series.

Toronto while did not have a possession game did capitalize on mistakes made by Texas. Toronto was also way more physical.

Texas looked timid, weak and unorganized especially in their own zone. Once they got into their possession game in the offensive zone they looked great but the problem was getting to that point. The two turnovers for goals came from bad outlet passes from defenders (I'm pretty sure it was Jokipakka on both). Other troubles came from neutral zone turn overs from lost pucks or bad passes.

Texas couldn't get the speed that they needed to counter the physical play of Toronto. The ice didn't look that great and it seemed like every player had issues with skating.

They're going to have to figure out their own issues for them to be competitive Monday.

The Master's degree seals that **** for me. I didn't realize he had a teaching background. The reason people are saying Vancouver kept Gulutzan is because of his teaching background. They want teachers as much as coaches IIRC seeing in the reports.

If he leaves, I hope it isn't to the Nucks. May he go to FLA and teach Barkov some more magic. We need a legit superstar 1C for the national team!

A. It's not like all the teams looking at Willie didn't already know about his college degrees and other credentials
B. I'm not all that convinced this thing is imminent, I remember all the hubbub about other guys getting hired, nothing happened.
C. I couldn't imagine a less relevant predictor of hiring decisions than a vocal majority of a given team's fans.
D. There are some pretty significant coaches left on the market, including Trotz and potentially Babcock, as well as Blashill.

So yeah, it's pretty likely that coach Willie is gone, but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion, and it might not be an issue if we can get a worthy replacement, which we've done in the past.
