There is Marchand a few weeks ago saying he would never talk about negotiations with the public. they clearly weren't a fan of him on that podcast.
Sure, but that's him. He also took a hometown discount like a lot of the core from the cup winning team did. Something which the more recent signees have not been willing to do. So while Marchand may not talk about it in a public manner, he also wasn't looking for fair market value, and the president of the team didn't lie in press conference about an offer to him.

Just haven't gotten into Hockey this season, been distant, but concerning the players who play defense, I thought the off season moves made them better. Was that not the case and is it team D ?

I actually thought both Offense and Defense would be better than last year. Not true ?
Did the team tune out the coach ?
Team not gelling ?
Looking at scores and record, this team is bad.
Offense got worse because players who had career seasons last year regressed this season. That's what happens when you're banking on bottom 6 players being able to slot up. They tend to go back to being what they've always been for their careers. Overpaying for a bottom pairing dman doesn't make the team or the player better. Zadorov is the same guy he's always been. An inconsistent player that ends up being a 5th dman because of that inconsistency

It's so funny how active this thread is (and I get it, I really do) even though their two highest paid players Pastrnak and McAvoy have also been abominations many times this season.
I always see people complaining about Pastrnak to be honest. Same with McAvoy, since last year’s playoffs. And rightfully so.

2.40 goals scored per game. 31st in the league. They could stop an entire extra goal per game and they'd still be allowing more goals than they score.
Just spitballing here, but what if they tried something else besides passing exclusively to their $11.25M sniper on the PP? Or is that not nearly predictable enough?

For them to stop relying on Pasta, they'd need an actual legit second scoring option. The likes of Geekie and his one magical goal or Brazzers being elevated from bottom 6 plug isn't working.

Would be nice to have a full crop of top six forwards playing in the top six. Seems like they are always one short, at best.
Yeah, in the GDTs for sure. But their player threads aren't exactly on fire from the villagers right now.
Good point. This may be Swayman’s first stretch of poor play in his NHL career so I’m not concerned but if I see one more dumb guy facial expression from 73 after one of his low IQ plays leads to a goal, I want him and his $9.5M a year contract fired into the sun whether that’s fair or not lol

Swayman elected for arbitration (in a period where this team was very tight on cap), and got 3.75M to play half the hockey games. The sob story you tell is just that, a story. Arbitration usually falls half way between one side and the other, and like every other guy who has gone there for us, that's exactly what happened to Sway that year.

We're seeing now that actually, this young man is not that mentally tough. His agent is, however. And he probably chose him well from a purely "dollars today" stand point. That said I think an agent who got him 1M less per year, gets him a better life long term.

We're going to find out...
So it's on the players to bail the GM out when he's signing really shitty deals? Weird concept to even suggest, IMO. Swayman played hardball and got what he wanted. Now he has to live up to the deal. The team also needs to ice a far better product than the collective bag of shit they call their roster this season. It's f***ing pathetic. Ken f***ing Dryden, combined with prime Patrick Roy, rolled in top of his game Dominik Hasek, sprinkled with some Martin Brodeur couldn't make this team look good. They're that bad.

Roy could probably pull off better than Swayman heck Martembault has better stats and the Habs are bad while the Bruins currently sit in wildcard contention. Merzlinkas on Columbus same thing, Sway should at least be hitting numbers like his

WE AREN'T SCORING ENOUGH

I will say, the offense picking it up would help the defense a lot. Not sure what the time of possessions stats are for the bruins, but it sure does feel like they are constantly caved into their own zone
