He hasn’t played in Sweden since 2019.

He’s a lower end NCAA UFA that’s been a decent depth player for Bako after getting called up from the ECHL.

I meant years ago when he played with farjestad jr. He was a man amongst kids at that level. Just trying to figure out what has gone wrong. I actually thought the oilers had a steal with his pick. But I am on a losing streak with my Fins and Swedes as of late

Theres 1 guy drafted after him thats doing anything more than him, and thats mintyukov.

Nazar, Lekkerimaki to name two but small sample sizes and it's early. Just an early season observation . Savoie and O'Reilly have been a bit underwhelming by the numbers.

Savoie you can give a bit of a pass on because I mean, he is 3rd in team scoring, the team isn’t all that good offensively, especially on the PP. He is an AHL rookie and Chaulk can’t decide if he is a center or a winger so he is bouncing around a lot. Even with that he has a +4 which is tied for team lead in forwards so looks like he is doing decent.

O’Reilly though yeah, that’s some underwhelming blah. Especially being passed by a younger guy we took 6 rounds later.

Yeah, I think the reason they traded down was because Cossa was taken. They for whatever reason didn’t see the same value in Wallestadt. Not sure why at the time but they saw Cossa over Wallestadt based on that.

I think Holland was too loose with his tongue, Yzerman knew we would 100% grab Cossa if he were there for our pick. He knew to trade up and grab him before we could. This was absolutely Kenny's fault.

I have not watched the Knights this year but you also have to look at player roles. O'Reilly's job with the Knights was and I suspect based on comments by @McDNicks17 still is to take on all the tough defensive assignments. I have stated this many times before but role matters. When playing on the top line he will not be a play driver, especially when the line is paired with Dikinson who is very much a focus of the offense in London.

Nicholl's role is as a complementary scorer. He is in an ideal position to take advantage of the high-end talent London has.

O'Reilly looked very good in camp playing a role that is similar to what I am sure he was drafted for.

O'Reilly's job with the Knights was and I suspect based on comments by @McDNicks17 still is to take on all the tough defensive assignments. I have stated this many times before but role matters. If he's already playing a low scoring defensive role in junior that doesn't bode well for him to be anything more than a 4th liner at the NHL level. They traded a 1st round pick for this guy so this is a pretty disappointing outcome if this is what he is.

We were told that he was on the verge of breaking out and would get a much bigger role with the Knights this season so him as a checking center is pretty disappointing thus far.

He did get a bigger role, but he's nowhere near the go-to guy out there. Sam Dickinson is Cale Makar on steroids at the OHL level. Easton Cowan is a 20 year old 1st rounder on a 51 game point streak. Denver Barkey is one of the best 20 year olds in the OHL. He was often the 4th most talented guy out there(and the 5th is no slouch either as he's probably going to be a 1st rounder this June).

The Knights are the best team in the OHL and are stacked with a bunch of 20 year olds. The Hunters aren't the type to force a player's role just because he was a 1st rounder. They'll keep leaning on him as their go-to defensive option. He likely won't see a major offensive role until next year when Dickinson goes to the NHL and Cowan/Barkey/Halttunen/Julien age out.
