Assuming Oilers management would actually call up someone from Bako that isn't an over the hill NHL vet... Who do you think could earn a call up this year?

Philp is obvious. Who else? Savoie?

Not too many of that type down there. Most of the prospects are too raw still. Savoie and Jarventie are probably the only other two.

Noel Hoefenmayer might be a dark horse on defense. He's kind of right on the edge at 25, but he's been able to consistently get into the lineup after the Gleason trade and has been much better than Gleason was. He's a fun guy to watch. Skilled and gritty.

Pretty pedestrian production from Savoie. I know there's very little talent in Bakersfield but I expected more from him, been saying this about a lot of Oiler prospects thus far. Still early though

I think this has more to do with unrealistic expectations rather than how he’s actually playing

Look at who he gets to play with. Given his size he will likely be a complimentary guy at the NHL level. Think a RH RNH IMO.

There's guys drafted after him in the 2022 draft that are either already in the NHL or are doing better in the AHL. I expected rougly PPG in the AHL for him, don't think that's unreasonable.

Look at the team and the lack of PP production.

Wallestadt (the one who got away) doesn't have great stats for his 9 games this year--- playing with Iowa.

Does anybody know what kind of team he has playing in front of him? Is it mostly younger guys?

Does anyone know what is going on with Carl Berglund? He is one of the darkhorses in our system that I saw play in Sweden year ago and was looking forwarded to him playing. But it sounds at the pro level he has had nothing but bad luck with injuries

He hasn’t played in Sweden since 2019.

He’s a lower end NCAA UFA that’s been a decent depth player for Bako after getting called up from the ECHL.

Cossa was the guy the Oilers wanted and that looks like the right call so far.
But Cossa was gone by the time the Oilers picked. A lot of people screamed when the Oilers bypassed Wallestadt (for Xavier B.) but so far it looks like Wall might or might not be an NHL caliber goaltender? Cossa's stats are very impressive. The Wings probably have a #1 goalie for a decade.

Yeah, I think the reason they traded down was because Cossa was taken. They for whatever reason didn’t see the same value in Wallestadt. Not sure why at the time but they saw Cossa over Wallestadt based on that.
