I'll be shocked if Starfield doesn't release as a buggy mess. It's the Bethesda seal of quality, let modders fix your own game.

A lot riding on this title. Doesn't help that it will be released right after one of the best RPGs ever created.

There are surely showing a lot of confidence in the review copies going everywhere and the embargo date. We will see since Bethesda doesn’t have a great track record here.

There is certainly crossover, but the Starfield market is vastly different than BG3. Way, way more mass market.

It definitely is. However, BG3 was just so damn great that it became extremely popular without basically any marketing.

Top 10 all time in Steam peak player counts, one of the most preordered games on PS5 etc.

Yeah I just don’t think they are really competing except for some awards that are likely going to Nintendo anyway. Starfield hype feels like Red Dead Redemption 2. Hopefully it lives up to it.

I do think it will be interesting with the extra time and Microsoft resources allocated pays off in more polish.

There are PS trolls getting ready to do a mass wide downvote on Metacritic when the game gets released.
Console loyalist have always confused me. I get trying to justify your purchase of a $500 dollar investment into a piece of plastic, but to take it to the extent of review bombing and trolling other people is just plain weird. The PS crazies also seem to be the most ravenous. The replies on any Xbox post on Twitter is always fallowed by a dozen or so guys trolling.

Fanboys are so childish. It's better for everyone if multiple consoles are equally great. Sony's dominance the last two generations isn't ideal. Competition creates more good stuff.

The review bombing stuff is so weird, but yeah… won’t be able to trust public reviews at launch and any slight bug will be ‘gamebreaking.’

I just wanna go to space jail and break out. Is that too much to ask?

2 days til Armored Core. Hell yeah.
I’m tempted by this… I do worry about performance here. From software games tend to either be extreme variation between 35-60 fps or the worst 30fps cap implementation of all time. IE Bloodborne… amazing game, but stepping back to it today, the frame pacing is so bad it makes you want to quit.

Not that I care about any game awards, but most likely they would be. It's arguably the best RPG in ages.
You’re probably not wrong… it just doesn’t have the mass market appeal. Starfield is probably the only release that can surpass TotK and I’d find that unlikely.

Shades of Bayonetta 2 being by far the best game of 2014, but almost nobody seeing that. Only Sunset Overdrive contended that year and it was a notch or three down.

The game has been so good that you could say that it went mass market. I mean it's in the top 10 all time in Steam peak player counts, the PS5 version will sell a lot as well.

The BG3 fans are going to be very vocal when TotK sweeps the awards.

Yuuuuuuuup. Nintendo's player numbers are too great to really compete. From what I'm reading Larian Studio's player numbers jumped ~3X thanks to BG3 but still no where near Nintendo.

I'm the biggest Zelda fanboy but I just couldn't get into ToTK at all. I'm sure I'll make a second pass and eventually finish it and enjoy it. But for me, it didn't reach the bar BotW set.

Starfield I'm pretty excited about. I'm going to jump into that after I've exhausted BG3.

Yeah... the numbers are fantastic for BG3 and the type of game... but we are likely at ~2.7m in sales with maybe another 2m coming in the next 6-12 months. TotK is already over 18m and projected over 25m for the year. This is apples and quince when you're talking markets. I don't have a single doubt that the market that BG3 caters to it hits all the right notes and is a great game. That market is just a nearly an order of magnitude lower. That doesn't mean TotK is a better game (I haven't played both so I have zero clue), but TotK is a fantastic game with some of the best reviews of the year that'll probably be the highest selling games since Animal Crossing New Horizons and biggest non-Nintendo hit since Red Dead Redemption 2. Great reviews, huge install base, tons of hype, and a game that anybody over 5-7 can potentially get into... it is all the makings of sweeping the awards. And the diehards will be salty.

Best-seller games are not for me.

Animal Crossing I played for a time.
I thought the same, but when I go back an look at the list... I've loved a lot of these games

GTA V, Mario Kart 8, Super Mario Bros, RDR2, Witcher 3, BotW, Smash... I've loved all of those games. I think all of those are top 20 best selling games.

But I hated Animal Crossing... that game just felt like a 2nd job where I was just taking care of mundane shit.

Yes, but here's a list of all the games I owned off of that:
Animal Crossing
BoTW, but I didn't like playing that.

I don't remember how I got into Animal Crossing, but all I was doing at the time was studying and working out. So, second job? Sure, if my first job was lifting weights recreationally.

You really expect me to believe you didn't play Nintendogs?
