I've been starting to think about getting a new graphics card but the last two games I finished are Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga and Vampire Survivors. Both can be played on my electric toothbrush.

How are people already playing Hogwarts Legacy? I'm not just talking game reviewers/critics either. It's not in the beta stage...soo pre-order maybe? Was excited to play it tonight when I saw people playing it but it says it doesn't come out until the 10th...

There was an edition that allowed you to play 3 days early.

Yeah the game is pretty great so far. Just a few hours in and I'm really impressed with the amount of care and polish that went into it. The level of immersion, especially as you wander the halls of Hogwarts, feels kind of special to be honest. They really nailed it.

Just a minor tip though- don't lower the pitch of your character at the start of the game. I made that mistake and now he sounds like he's delivering every line in a cave.

I barely play my PS at all and have seen like three or four of the movies. I wonder if it's worth it. The game looks pretty sweet.

I (re)beat Resident Evil Code Veronica X last night. It's the last game in the series with the tank controls and pre-rendered backgrounds.

I'd give it a 7/10. The gameplay is good, but it was the first RE game to really jump the shark with the story. I also had a ridiculous amount of ammo left at the end of the game, which made the final boss too easy.

Don't pay extra for lame super duper deluxe editions. Companies can go f*** themselves locking content behind a paywall day one.
I don't mind the mild $10-20 expansions... they usually are worth the extra content and that's how AAA games really make money now. The extra $100+ ones that give you some plastic and a book, that shit is normally not worth it.

I will never approve locking basic stuff behind a premium edition. The content is already there but is blocked unless you pay more despite it being a full priced game. It's a cash grab.

Actual expansions like Blood and Wine for Witcher 3 deserve the extra price.

Despite caving and doing just that, you are absolutely right. Locking content and making you pay for early access is very much a bullshit trend in the industry. And it all started with that goddamn horse armor.

It is the only way some of these big budget games actually make money… it is a necessary evil for the industry to survive. Just like the move to 70 as a base price point.

I found RE games unplayable until RE4. The poor controls and camera made the game scarier, but those aren't good reasons. The storylines of all games never appealed to me either.

I'm one of those weird people who are lower on Resident Evil 4 than most.

It's usually ranked #1 on any list you'll find on Youtube, but for me it's more like 5th. It was really innovative for the over the shoulder/laser shooting style, but the game starts to drag towards the middle for me.

I recommend the remakes that came out recently of parts 2 & 3. Those are scary as heck, and don't have the tank controls.

Hopefully they don't cut corners with the RE 4 remake like they did with the last one. RE 3 remake had a bunch of content missing and the game was extremely short and deep as a puddle.

Ideally companies would just stop this remake business and make solid original content. However, that is more difficult and remakes sell.

With ya on this.. RE4 just isn't that good. It was innovative and really fun at the time, but it changed Resident Evil from a survival horror game to a 3rd person action shooter. Tank control games, especially 1 and 2 are just far better games. REmake on the Gamecube was amazing. And the new REmakes of 2 and 3 are both great.

I will hear no RE4 slander! It was a GOAT game then and still is now. And without its influence we may never have gotten games like The Evil Within, Dead Space, Gears of War, Uncharted or even Bioshock. It deserves its place amongst the greats.

It was innovative and impactful, but innovative doesn't mean GOAT.

We would have easily gotten Bioshock though... Bioshock is just System Shock 13 years later.

Bioshock's lead level designer has gone on record to say that RE4 impacted "almost every level of Bioshock's gameplay," including level design. So while we may have gotten Bioshock, we wouldn't have gotten the Bioshock. And RE4 sitting pretty at a 96 aggregate certainly puts it in GOAT territory critically as well.

I'm not doubting the impact. I'm doubting the game. Critics loved I Care a lot and it was terrible, just utter trash. IIRC Mass Effect 3 is something like a 93 and it is also utter trash. I don't put my whole belief into what critics say.

Also, System Shock is more impactful that RE4 for video games in general. Maybe one of the most influential games of all time. Doesn't make System Shock GOAT though.
