Nice pickup for the Blues - I'd probably rather have a 2023 1st (obviously not on the table here) but Dean is just a fun guy to watch and he's got valuable middle-six future written all over him. When you can trade a rental for a guy with a pretty real chance of becoming a similar level of player shortly down the road - you've done well.

With the exception of a few big fish targets this window sure feels like a buyers market.
What's weird about this is the Blues have gotten their price on everybody so it's not a buyer's market where the Blues are concerned

1st + 2d + Abramov (B prospect) for ROR retained (ask was 1st+ but more than Tarasenko)
1st + 3d for Tarasenko retained (ask was 1st+)
3d for Acciari (ask was 3d)
2021 1st rounder for Barbashev (ask was late 1st or two 2ds)
Blais + Skinner for Mikkola (ask was Middleton price which was 5th + Kahkonen)

At this point having sold everyone for the prices we wanted it kind of doesn't matter what label is slapped on it but under no circumstances was it a buyer's market the Blues were in this year.

I was told that he was going for a 1st round pick?
Dean is better than a 1st round pick. He’s a prospect that’s a recent 1st who is already developing and having a strong year. Just because you expected to get Kane for Kravatsov and only got a 2026 7th doesn’t mean every other teams trades are bad.:laugh::laugh::laugh:

If I had to guess most teams would prefer Dean than a none lottery 2023 1st

Decent return for an overrated 3C who is a pure rental. Vegas does it again!
Not really even good at center.
He's producing way less than his teammate Riley Kidney, who was picked in the 2nd round of the same draft, who most Habs fans don't even view as an NHL level prospect
Kidney had better production in his draft year too so obviously NHL teams don't think that speaks to their talent level.

There’s a lot of questions about Dean translating to the NHL BUT he seems to answer those questions consistently. So who is anyone to doubt him? He was solid at Worlds.

With all their madness, the Knights have actually drafted really well. They didn’t have to give up Cormier or Brisson. Dean hurts their depth but he wasn’t playing in Vegas anytime soon.

The Blues get a lottery ticket in Dean. He’s likely 2-3 years away to really contribute. Could end up a solid NHL player or could end up a lot like Austin Czarnik. Let him develop and see what happens.

Can definitely live with it. Liked Korczak as well.

Seems like a hard to play against guy. Not Suprised Army settled for just the prospect there. Style the Blues have strayed away from.

I think he’s a guy who turns pro next year and spends 1-3 years really developing in the AHL. Really like this for STL
