What exactly are we meant to paying for a depth forward on pace for 11 goals and 34 points?
More than a decent prospect and a waive wire throw-in guy.

Why? Does Roy fetch a 1st if he was traded for a pick straight up?More than a decent prospect and a waive wire throw-in guy.

Raks has term, jake didn't. Raks should get more.Bunting was a cap dump in that deal. He was having a bad year for the Canes and had 2 years left of term. He wasnt a positive asset but a cap balance piece
Rakell wont get back Guentzel level package because at his best hes worst 10-15% than normal Guentzel.
They arent comparable players.
Rakell having term is the issue.Raks has term, jake didn't. Raks should get more.
Vegas can't afford to move out multiple pieces and their highest draft pick for the next two years (no firsts in 25 and 26) for another aging winger having a career year at 32.
They no longer have the pieces. Last TDL they gave up two firsts and their first rounder that year (Edstrom). They already have a fairly bare prospect cupboard and a team that's average age is 28.4...it IS Vegas; they have, in their short history, not really given a Flying Fark about the future when NOW assets hit the market...
I did not factor in VGK being unwilling to part with a 2nd when I made this proposal. They no longer have the pieces. Last TDL they gave up two firsts and their first rounder that year (Edstrom). They already have a fairly bare prospect cupboard and a team that's average age is 28.4
no. his caphit is good value. his term is an assetRakell having term is the issue.
Last year he sucked with 37 in 70
This year he has been good with a near 70 pt pace.
He has 3 more years to go after this at 5M and is in his mid 30s (2011 draft pick so around 32/33)
A guy like him is more in demand as a rental or 1+1 (2 playoff run type player) than at full value for 3 years of term.
If he was expiring next yesr and had his salary retained down to 2.5M hed be having a bidding war on him with 1st + 2nd +prospect type value .
I think the Pens should keep him another 1.5 seasons hope hes a 50-60 pt player still and then deal him.

I don't think anything. They're gonna be in for a rough ride....not to get this topic off the rails, but what would Vegas offer to get some picks back??...Montreal has a plethora of picks and a deep prospect pool...

I think it's closer than you think. Look at the ages....probably...it's still a few years away, though, so the now matters to them more...let the arena be half-empty in 5 years, just not the now...

Barbashev - 29
Hertl - 31
Karlsson - 32
Stone - 33 (almost)
Hanifin - 28
McNabb - 34
Petro - 35
Theodore almost 30
Only Eichel and Doro are under 29 and Eichel is turning 29 in October.
Flames will take Schwindt back from your thieving, draft pick and prospect hating team. Not gonna lie I'd be tempted, can we throw in Holtz or Schwindt just so I never have to hear of them again. I mean because they are extremely valuable players... top notch
Well best of luck holding out then for that type of valueno. his caphit is good value. his term is an asset
You started seeing it in the offseason, the limitations of what they could do when they realized they had to start letting older players go and all they could really bring in were low risk low ceiling lotto tickets like Shmid and Holtz and Pearson....I gave it 5 years so as not to come off as "biased", being of another fanbase...you are correct, though, and that will be a problem, imo, for attendance once the team runs out of Runway with the current group...
