Guys this is a fair deal. De Haan and Nelson are both very good players (they couldn't afford to lose either of them) and NYI got rid of Grabo's contract.

Lol how the hell can anyone say is is bad for the Isles? They gave up Grabovski who hasn't played a game in a year and has concussion issues AND they got rid of his salary, moves a long shot defenseman, a 1sr in a weak draft, and a 2nd two years from now in exchange for not taking anyone from the NHL roster. Huge win for us imo.

Nelson really isn't that good and they could have protected De Haan.

Yeah I don't get the backlash. Remember how many were laughing at the isles for protecting Pelech but not Nelson, de haan and Strome but all of a sudden now those guys aren't worth much. SMH, people just wanna laugh.

You're delusional if you think this is a "huge win." You gave up a 1st and a 2nd in the expansion draft. You lost. You could have lost more but you still lost

Losing a big contract, a 1st this year, a 2nd in 2 years and a nobody prospect to keep De Haan, Nelson or Strome? Why is it a bad deal?

Great deal for the isles. Well worth. None of those pieces are worth the player we could have potentially lost. Grabovski is done playing and makes 5mil. That's 5mil the isles cleared in cap and assured they kept all their roster players.

A few days ago it was supposed to be dehaan and a first to Vegas according to dreger. I'll take thIs deal all the way to not lose a good player from the roster.

Is Grabovski's career done though? I thought he was questionable to resume his career.

This is my 2 cents behind the logic of the trade. Vegas picks him up and will have insurance pay 80% of his salary but will use him for Cap Flexibility. Only thing Islanders really gain out of the deal is 1M and not having to worry about him possibly coming back(small possibility) as they fill out their roster this summer, they could have easily kept him and put him on LTIR

A 2019 2nd rounder is pretty small potatoes, as is Bischoff. Assuming the Islanders get to choose who Vegas drafts from them, this seems pretty fair.

Thought it was a bad deal at first glance but if the Islanders fans love it who am I to say I know their team better than them? Looking deeper into it looks fine to me.
