Confirmed Trade: [VGK/CGY/PHI] Noah Hanifin (75% retained), Mikhail Vorobyov to VGK; 2026 1st , 2025 cond. 3rd, Daniil Miromanov to CGY; 2024 5th to PHI

Hill is a system goalie really. I think so long as Vegas does not allow teams to suddenly start setting up shop in the slot he is not likely going to be a reason they lose
I mean the defense has been awful recently and hill hasn’t been able to bail them out. They gotta figure it out fast cuz Noah isn’t gonna suddenly be the answer if they don’t.

Spot on, and inability to keep attackers outside is what this current slide is about.

That said, luck is a big factor too. Hill even said the number of times screened shots hit him or hit the post or deflected fortunately last playoffs no question the Gods were with him at times. Its inevitable that sort of luck won't happen every year so realistically even a system goalie crap is gonna go wrong sometimes...its similar style to what NYI played under Trotz which made Varlamov look better than he is at times

Oilers crying in their beers and praying they don't have to play the Knights again in the playoffs.

Honest question. What's stopping the league from forcing Stone to have diagnostic imaging evaluated by an independent physician near the end of the season to see if he's even eligible to be on LTIR? Surely they should be doing follow up imaging before he's cleared to play and the league should have access to that. It's pretty black and white when he should be forced off LTIR.

Vegas plays by the rule of the CBA and the rest of the league is stuck in the mud. Everything too hard, can't do this, can't do that.

Jealous of that organization from top to bottom.
Yeah, but you have to think that if it was any other organizations but Vegas and Tampa pulling this sort of thing, Gary would find a way to put an end to it right quick. Imagine if Vancouver or Ottawa tried this?

I think you know what's stopping them...

In reality, they do look into these situations but probably not very hard.

Common sense and the NHLPA

Nothing. They monitor this stuff and can have a player get a second opinion from an independent, qualified medical professional.

Anytime this comes up, Friedman brings up how hard the league went after Montreal and Shea Weber. Talks about how scrutinized everything was around that.

It's funny though, the better you are the more "good luck" seems to happen. As a goalie if you're getting a lot of shots off the posts and pucks are finding a way to hit you, it usually means your positioning is good

The league does this already… they have doctors who check in on the players. Bettman was very open about the fact the league does independent checks on these players

That 2nd sentence, what do you mean.
I’ve been of Hanifin’s more vocal supporters. He has been an extremely high end 5v5 and PK defenseman, and most of the important metrics paint him as a top 30 defenseman. The only real weakness Hanifin has is he is a pretty bad PPQB

The league does look into that stuff
