IMO the only other team that made more sense than the Rangers is Toronto. His dad and brother are part of the organization and Leafs are a young team on the way up and could be really good in couple years.

At which point he'd have a hard time seeing any ice-time aside from in the bottom-6.

In NYR he'll have a goos chance being in the top-6, perhaps even on the first line.

That will probably not happen with Marner, Matthews, Nylander, JVR, Komarov, Kadri etc.

Unbelievable future. I don't think anyone has said that. But of course we could be due for a decline after this pretty impressive run we've had since 2012. Really 2006. Making the playoffs all but one season? That's pretty insane. And even that one season we missed we were eliminated on the final game of the season in a shootout.

The Rangers always make do. Signing Zuccarello, Hayes and now Vesey help makes up for all the picks we traded away. And if you look at all the 1sts we traded, no players drafted in our vicinity have had any real sort of impact in the NHL yet. Burakovsky is it but he rode Kuzy's coattails hard this season and was useless when seperated.

And we drafted pretty well pre-2012. From 2009-12 we hit on all of our 1st round picks. Not many teams can say that.

McDonagh and Brassard (and now Zibanejad) were acquired from free assets.

We also draft very well outside the first round.

Callahan, Dubinsky, Stepan, Duclair, Buch, etc.

We'll be fine.

It's HFBoards it's tough to take most people seriously. 2 years ago everyone was saying how the Sharks window was closed and how they're all playoff chokers. Only for them to have an extremely impressive playoff run last year. Am I saying that's what's going to happen with the Rangers? No. But nothing in this league is a given

No. He's not the best goalie right now and hasn't been the best goalie the last ten years. He's good but there is nothinng there that makes him the "best".

He is right up with the best every year he's been in the league. That group pretty much keeps changing, but Lundqvist remained in that top group.

Him staying near the top consistently all this time certainly makes him one of, if not the best goalies of this generation.

His consistent greatness, even eliteness, cannot be denied. He even had great year this past season, all things considered. Arguably one of his best, if you dig deep enough.

What remains to be seen is only how well he carries it into the future.

Cmon man...I'm an islander fan and I can even admit that since Lundqvist entered the league in 2005, he has consistently played at an ELITE level.

He's more than just "good"

Now, will he continue to play at that level for the next couple of years? That remains to be seen

At least Hawks fans can sympathize with Preds fans. They lost Hayes to the same loophole then lost Vesey because Hayes played for a different team because of said loophole.

The Hawks didn't lose Hayes. Their exclusive negotiating rights expired. There was no loophole and they didn't have anything that belonged to them snatched away. Same with Nashville and Vesey.

I'm surprised he went to the Rangers. I thought Boston was where he would sign as it's the team he grew up cheering for.

I guess with a good friend on the Rangers and the possible pressure playing in Boston was the tipping point.

I didn't think for a second he would come to the Leafs. Most American kids if given a choice wouldn't sign in Canada. Heck so many Canadian born players don't want to play in Canada.:(

Congrats Rangers fans and I really hope he plays well for you guys (just not against my Leafs)

I mean two years ago the Sharks had the best record in the league against playoff teams. They barely missed because teams like Buffalo and Edmonton nearly season series swept them.

Not to mention they have four forwards better than any Rangers forward. And two dmen better than any Rangers dman.

He was a Hawks asset. And then he wasn't. So yeah, they lost Hayes.

Hawks lost Hayes because his brother and friends were too garbage to crack the Hawks lineup between 2013-2015, the period which they won two cups.

So again just consider this. We basically got McDonagh, Zibanejad, Vesey, Hayes and Zuccarello for "free". That's pretty damn impressive, no?

We'll be fine.

no point posting it anymore. its quite obvious that there is a crap load of jealousy in this thread now. IMO(as a non NYR fan) the future of NYR looks unbelievable and its quite obvious it is extremely talented and impressive. People that think otherwise is jealous or has zero knowledge. In a few years, this team will be a very good team

The original post I disagreed with.

Who has been better the past 10 years?

Jonathan Quick. In each of those years there has always been a better goalie. Tim Thomas, Price, Holtby. He's good, so don't get all hurt on me, but he is NOT the "best". I would take Bishop, Holtby, Price, Quick and others ahead of him right now.

No future

NYR has done 2 good things in the last 7 years or so, rid themselves of the Gomez contract and drafting Duclair. Ok, I understand NYR fans want to talk about the Gomez contract.
