Isn't that an old video anyhow? I swear I've seen that before when he used his European out clause on the first year of his ELC.
Yes it’s an old video.

Posters were up in arms back then too. “How can he disrespect the team by tossing the hat”. Blah blah.

It’s all innocent, and simply was meant to be a cute way of saying, for the coming year he’s with HPK and not the Jets.

So it has nothing to do with not coming back to NA this year, his contract has a return to NA clause, as reported.

I suggest we simply let the kid play, he needs to continue playing, and develop his power forward game by taking pucks to the net (as he became more consistent at in AHL), being strong along the boards, and playing a strong 2-way game. He’ll get #1 pp time with HPK, which will help his offensive confidence.

I still hope he can be a 3rd line winger with Gus that will be hard to play against and have some offense to their game. If all goes well, we might really enjoy a 3rd line of:

Vesalainen-Gus-Torgersson

With size, skill and defensive chops.

I'm very interested to see how his re-vamped game flies in Europe so I'm quite happy he's playing over there.

Too bad he wasn't in the lineup today because HPK laid a beating on the Pelicans.

yea I am hoping he has a decent year in Europe too. As long as he’s an prospect developing in our system I will be cheering for the best.

We weren't taking Suzuki.

You don't know that. They were rumoured to be interested in Liljegren. That is a rumour. Even if correct, it doesn't mean they take him in the end. They also may have been interested in Valimaki.

Nice snipe!

Man, look at all that ice. I hope they won't be learning any lax habits because of that. Different variant of the game, clearly.

Vesalainen’s goal looked like many goals Perfetti has scored in OHL.

In a few years, I wonder if we see Perfetti in Wheeler’s spot on PP1 and KVes there, on PP2?

The kid is only 20, a lot of this talk of him being a bust is premature. He still finished 3rd on a very low scoring team in points.

He still has a couple of years left before we should be having this convo.

Right on. Jets are no hurry throwing in the towel on KV.
Only way I see them letting him go
yet is if he is included in a block-buster deal on moving Laine, because Laine is demanding out after this next season, refusing to resign AND a big enough return of other need and filler replacement for what we are giving up, is offered.
Or, if another trade for a needed/wanted player is contingent on including KV , AND Chevy cannot resist.
KV has not Failed in lots of NHL trials and has not refused to work on his game toward N.A. pro hockey success.
He has had only limited NHL exposure and is trending up from later last season.

Really liked him in the Oilers game. I actually now have some renewed hope as I didn't think he was going to be willing to play a hard-nosed, puck hounding game that would allow him to fit in as a middle-6 player if couldn't make it as a scoring talent playing in the top-6. Hopefully he can continue to bring that to the table and carve out a spot for himself in the middle-6. I don't know if he's going to be a top-6 player but hopefully if he plays like he did last night maybe he can carve out an Armia style career in the NHL.

Agree. He's shown that he has the offensive talent, but their have been questions about his ability / willingness to play at the level of intensity to make a difference at the NHL level. His play has really improved in that area.

I thought that line should have had more ice-time last night (especially at the expense of Stastny's line).

I’m hoping in the near future they give him a legitimate shot to stick in the bigs. My memory might be fuzzy, but I really liked Chibisov and what he brought (he just didn’t stick)

He and PLD are a duo that can play a heavy and physical game if last night's forgettable game was any indication, relative to our otherwise pillowy soft forward group. We need him to succeed but he's not going to do it in the press box.
Completely agree. When Mo threw him and PLD together with Perrault it was like a light switch being flipped on. They were hard to handle. Interesting pair looking forward maybe with Harkins ?

I mentioned yesterday I'd like to see Wheeler with Dubois and Vesalainen, but I'd like for Harkins to be given more of a chance as well so I'd be okay with that. Harkins plays so smart and is surprisingly fast and sturdy. He also has a whippy and accurate shot that he's not getting many opportunities to use. He kind of reminds me of "The Mule" Johan Franzen with the way that he moves around out there.
