Just a thought:

Could it perhaps be that he is trying to get 55 in a scoring groove by giving them “extra” shifts. He has been horrid on the scoring front over the last 15 -20 games or so. (aside from his 3 goal performance.) Is he not similar to 29 in that he has a superior shot to most? He looks to be lacking confidence if you ask me.

So maybe Mo is trying to wake him the f up? Looked he said the F word (Frick?) when he got back to the bench after he missed on a nice dish from KC!

You mean ........ like coaching?

Nice breakdown.

I've been wondering if Sbisa draws in for Beau when healthy? I think he's been better.

There seems to have been a thing with us (HFJets) this year. With our bundle of low end LD we seem to forget about the ones who are injured until they come back. IMO they are, in order; Sbisa, Kulikov, Beaulieu, Bitetto and Whatisname.

I would be keeping Sbisa next year and possibly Kulikov, if he is prepared to accept a PB role and salary.

I think Sbisa has been better but Beau is sticking up for his teammates and I think Paul might leave him in because of that.

I gave Niku a hard time about rushing with the family thing instead of waiting till he had a regular NHL paycheque. Good thing he didn't listen to me because it seems like that regular NHL check ain't coming. Just KHL or Liiga money.

This crap D corps has played some pretty good D in recent games. May be smoke and mirrors but they are getting the job done. :thumbu:

It’s not that bad with DeMelo added and Kuli playing decent. Kulikov is fine defender when healthy (which he seldom has been) and Morrissey seems to be settling down. That’s 4 D who are top 4 quality and our 5-6 are top 6 quality also.

Early in the season Morrissey was not able to play at #1 level. He’s still clearly not top-end #1 but I think he’s legit. Pionk is passable #2. Kuli and DeMelo are playing at #4 quality.

Early season we had two #2 D and rest were 6-7 quality.

Both of those guys are basically #6/PB guys that don't really bring anything. I'm fine with either grinding out the rest of the year but ideally we upgrade for next season.

He's getting NHL injury money right now. He's doing just fine.

His 60+ points 3 out of 4 years before age of 22 is pretty good.
He is in good company since 2000s.

And non in Atlanta-Winnipeg franchise has had 3 60+ point season before 22.

Even with him slowed down in terms of godly goals production , the young man has absolutely done amazing things in his first 4 years...

Sometimes when we talk about Laine we dont consider his age.

Isnt he the youngest player in the Jets starting line up still?

That back check last game, wow!!!

How can Fleury (.905) and Price (.909) be anywhere near the list?

Among G appearing in 40+ games Helle is tied for the lead in sv%, 1st in shots faced, 1st in saves, 3rd in wins, 5th in GAA - all playing behind the Jets D. I'm pretty sure most of the voters are aware of how weak it is with the departure of Trouba and Buff having had a lot of press.

Make it 45 appearances and it isn't even close anymore.

They played a ton of games and have posted really good numbers as well, minus the save percentage.

Looks like you just took the top-5 of the win column but left out Andersen for some reason. But honestly, Price and Fleury have bad numbers, only thing going for them is they have played a lot of games. Besides the results, their GSAA is also below average, so they are making less saves than expected, while guys like Hellebuyck and Rask are on the other end of the spectrum. Judging by statswatching, Binnington and Vasi have been pretty average.

Bruins have a strong team and a good backup, so they can afford to give Halak lots of starts as well, and Halak is a good goalie. That doesn't take anything away from Rask, who's been excellent and IMO currently the Vezina should be between him and Hellebuyck. It's a classic case of great goaltending in a very good team vs. great goaltending in a (defensively) bad team. If the Jets make the playoffs and Hellebuyck's numbers are reasonably close to Rask's, I think he'll get the Vezina. By reasonably close I guess I mean something like well above average. Connor has the clear lead in GSAA, I don't know how well that stat works and if the people doing the voting actually care about that, but it could be a strong argument for Helle, except I believe out of starters Rask has 2nd best GSAA so there's not much separation.

I think you are overstating the improvement in the roster. We now have two #2 D, one #3 D and the rest are 6-7 quality. But they have been playing pretty well lately. The addition of DeMelo has helped quite a bit.

But the sv% is the most telling one. I don't know what really good numbers you are referring to. Playing a ton of games means their team has no one better.

Chevy is a genius for bringing in DeMelo basically for free. Trade of the year?
I actually agree with you. My only criticism with regards to that was that it may have been too late. Deploying Poolman as a top line D was a critical error.
