Winnipeg, Manitoba,
why would you play your top forwards 5 minutes more than the next line in a game you were up by 3 after 20 minutes. Seriously. Over 21 minutes is a lot for a forward. 2 extra shifts? You are going to go with lying?

Just a thought:

Could it perhaps be that he is trying to get 55 in a scoring groove by giving them “extra” shifts. He has been horrid on the scoring front over the last 15 -20 games or so. (aside from his 3 goal performance.) Is he not similar to 29 in that he has a superior shot to most? He looks to be lacking confidence if you ask me.

So maybe Mo is trying to wake him the f up? Looked he said the F word (Frick?) when he got back to the bench after he missed on a nice dish from KC!

Yep but if that's the case shouldn't they just give Schief extra shifts with Ehlers and Laine and rest KC and Wheeler so they are fresh for the last push?

For a while, in the 2nd, it looked like the plan was to ride the 3-0 lead by letting Vegas take shots at Helle and rely on him to stop them.
Fortunately, that didn't last long. They got their feet back underneath them and played well from there on to give Helle the chance for the SO.

This crap D corps has played some pretty good D in recent games. May be smoke and mirrors but they are getting the job done. :thumbu:

Quick thoughts...

81-55-26 Nice game. They were really dangerous at times. Connor is just an outstanding finisher. Scheifele is in a groove.

27-20-29 Great game from Laine. That backcheck on the PP was outstanding. Ehlers was effective. Eakin was really effective - easily his best game as a Jet.

58-9-28 sStrong game. Harkins is easy to play with. Makes almost every read just right. Tenacious and quick. Roslovic showed his skills. Had a couple of hiccups. Copp was really solid.

85-21-82 Now that's a 4th line. Perreault was a force. Shore steady as always. Appleton makes so many good plays all over the ice.

44-12 Better game from Morrissey, and really solid game from DeMelo. He makes so many quick and accurate passes to move the puck out of the zone.

7-4 Kulikov was really good. He's having a really good season. Pionk was very good.

88-3 Solid game for a 3rd pairing. But Beaulieu makes some really bad passes and ices the puck for no reason.

Hellebuyck was a wall.

Overall, I really liked the pace of the Jets game. They had some holes defensively but they really generated a lot of speed through the neutral zone at times. Solid effort.
Nice breakdown.

I've been wondering if Sbisa draws in for Beau when healthy? I think he's been better.

Is it biased to say Hellebuyck deserves the Vezina? Because he totally does in my honest opinion. Third in wins, first in shutouts, second-most minutes, most saves and shots against.

The only thing is he has a 2.59 GAA which isn't too bad considering he's played a lot more games than most goalies, and has the best save percentage out of any goalie in the league right now.

Right now I say the finalists are in Hellebuyck, Vasilevsky, Binnington, then Fleury and Price.

What makes it so much more impressive is that our D is pretty weak this season compared to previous seasons.

Also, I think we deserve to make the playoffs, I feel if we do make it we're underdogs to win the cup. I think we unexpectedly surprise the league. Amazing game! Somewhat glad I didn't go to the lake this weekend and went to the game.

How can Fleury (.905) and Price (.909) be anywhere near the list?

Among G appearing in 40+ games Helle is tied for the lead in sv%, 1st in shots faced, 1st in saves, 3rd in wins, 5th in GAA - all playing behind the Jets D. I'm pretty sure most of the voters are aware of how weak it is with the departure of Trouba and Buff having had a lot of press.

Make it 45 appearances and it isn't even close anymore.

This was an exceptional play based on immediate situational awareness plus great effort. Laine has a strong powerful stride and sometimes people underestimate his speed , or cant recognize when he is busting. Well done and a clear example of his 200 ft game.
_________________________________________________

Laine's "top end speed" is good -- it's just his burst speed from a standstill that is slow, and he has to work on that. Likely won't ever be great, but could be better. Seems he needs 4-5 strides to get going.

Rask has an argument to be in the top 3 for sure but Helle is playing on an inferior team to the Bruins.

Missed this game Visiting family in the Maritimers and it's all about the Leafs in that neck of the woods:(
Tried to talk some sense into them and the discussion turned to when was I leaving - in other words, sooner the better :surrender

Looks like I picked the absolutely worst time to head for the coast - lots of great dialogue in this thread :thumbu:

If the only thing you are capable of analyzing from last nights win, is staring at the TOI off a gamesheet, you might want to take up watching another sport.

You are missing out 95% of what is important in this sport, which means you are completely unaware of all the positives that are right before your very eyes.

Hilarious, just beat a team that is 9 and 1 over the past 10, and we have the insightful complaining about 21 mins of ice time. Even more insightful when you factor in the 2 days rest prior to last nights game, along with the 2 full days of rest after last nights game.

And by insightful I mean out to lunch.
Once again great post .

Didn’t get to see the whole game because of company, but liked what I saw in the first and second! The team looked really focused and ready to capture a playoff spot.

I loved Laine battling Reaves to win the puck and get it to ehlers for the first goal. He’s starting to use that big body.

so happy to see that MP got a goal after being robbed earlier.

Keep it going!

You need to find a new company to work for ...... oh wait, you mean you had visitors. Hope they were really good friends to be worth it.

You know what? Just try to enjoy the f***ing win for once. 4-0 shut out in the middle of a playoff race. Just f***ing take it without needing to be the coach hater for one single f***ing game.

 I gave pucka a like for that comment, because he has a point.

But you also get a like for a good point.
Hard to find real reason to criticize anybody today. That was Vegas we ****ed up last night! Good show boys!

I bet he doesn’t. I bet he replaces Shore on the 4rth, and we ice 4 pretty solid lines.

Apples Lowry Perreault is a very solid 4rth line capable of logging 10 plus mins a night.

I hope it goes that way - but Mau's love of Copp - Lowry - xxx has been very strong. We shall see.
