I know the Leafs had interest a few years ago in the Lafferty trade but nowadays I’m not sure what other positives he has besides his size

He's a good PKer and he's good at clearing the crease

Can he be the #4 D next to a talented puck mover?
Oiler fan that saw every game of Desharnais' in Edmonton:

No.

Vinny is best used as a fairly low minutes 6/7 that you have to control the matchups for. He gets badly exposed by speed. He can be a GOOD 6/7 if you can do that for him, but if you can't he's going to have a hard time.

I wonder if the Leafs are in on him.

Because we know know that before Lafferty went to Vancouver the Leafs and Oilers discussed Lafferty/Desharnais

Is he anywhere close to Lyubushkin/Schenn territory?

Morgan Rielly needs a partner and those are the exact type of guys he thrives with.

Kind of surprised he’s struggling as much as he has.

I thought he was pretty decent 6/7 during regular season. He got more exposed in the playoffs playing against good teams every night.

Guess Kulak who is a really strong skater and Nurse who is above average covered pretty well for him.

He was good in the preseason too.

He showed mostly well in preseason, but had a stinker game. And then continued that stinker form for two months. Has been better the last few weeks though and been back to being a fine #6.

Like the guy but didn't enjoy his game. Felt he got emotional and overwhelmed. But kudos for making the show and getting a nice payday.

I could see the Habs being interested if/after they trade savard elsewhere. Would need a bottom pairing RD to play on PK1

Also the idea of a Xhekaj - Deharnais pairing makes the cave man part of my brain happy.

Just wait till the deadline

Teams will want depth on the right side always

And trade him for like a 5th round pick in exchange for him and Vancouvers 7th

I wonder if Kyle Burroughs for Vinny makes sense, the Canucks save like 900k and the Kings get a tougher and stronger 6/7 Dman.
