I know the Leafs had interest a few years ago in the Lafferty trade but nowadays I’m not sure what other positives he has besides his size
He's a good PKer and he's good at clearing the crease

Hes still a #7 part time D who makes $2m a year for the next 2 seasonsHe's a good PKer and he's good at clearing the crease
small sample size and the next game he'll revert back to his old slow self. slow decisionmaking. One positive lately is that Desharnais has started looking like a competent NHL defenseman since he got back into the lineup.
Can he be the #4 D next to a talented puck mover?
Oiler fan that saw every game of Desharnais' in Edmonton:Can he be the #4 D next to a talented puck mover?
On a bottom tier defense team, yea.Can he be the #4 D next to a talented puck mover?

Kind of surprised he’s struggling as much as he has.
I thought he was pretty decent 6/7 during regular season. He got more exposed in the playoffs playing against good teams every night.
Guess Kulak who is a really strong skater and Nurse who is above average covered pretty well for him.
He showed mostly well in preseason, but had a stinker game. And then continued that stinker form for two months. Has been better the last few weeks though and been back to being a fine #6.Kind of surprised he’s struggling as much as he has.

Absolutely! I'm stoked!When I see a Vancouver Canuck rumor… I know it’s legit.
Is he anywhere close to Lyubushkin/Schenn territory?
Morgan Rielly needs a partner and those are the exact type of guys he thrives with.
He needs to be a sheltered #5/#6 with limited minutes and some time on the PK. He does best when he doesn’t have to move or move the puckCan he be the #4 D next to a talented puck mover?
