No way I give Kapanen up for a stay at home defenseman that size. It's extremely rare for a 6'7" player to have an impactful NHL career. Way too much of a risk for the Leafs to take. I like the way Kapanen is progressing and he has more NHL upside.

So neither team's fanbase wants anything to do with this. Pretty easily settled then. No deal.

There was another Finnish guy in Detroit, don't remember his name, who once was almost a goal-per-game player in the AHL. They waved him eventually, because AHL isn't NHL.

Teemu Pulkkinen I think is who you're talking about, he was 2 years older than Kapanen when he had the season you're referring to which was 34 goals/61pts in 46 games. He was also a pretty valuable prospect on the strength of that year and got nearly a full season of games in the NHL over 2 years before they moved on. He was scouted as a one trick pony with a good shot/good hands but no other real plus tools and that he may struggle to get open in the NHL

Don't think Pulkkinen failing is a reason to think Kapanen will just because they're from the same country, their scouting reports are very different, Kapanen is very good at a lot of things - being fast is one of those

Too much potential with Trammer. Only scratching the surface with this kid so far. Could be a special player in the future.

The Canucks are going to need to fetch more skill than Kapanen alone if they are moving young assets. Kapanen has shown some moves in the minors but he is hardly an "ace" prospect.

I wouldn't do it just because I want to see how Tryamkin pans out, not many guys that like him in the league (big and mobile).

I'm gonna..
If we draft another d-man (Liljegren) in this draft, I'd do it. But the fact that we are probably going to take a forward, we're going to need Tram. Good offer, but not at this moment.

Tryamkin's looking great for Vancouver, he won't be moved, even if Kapanen might have more value in a vacuum (debatable).

He's got some really good upside (3/4) and has done nothing to prove that he won't reach it within a few years.

Gudbranson might be the odd man out though, since he's not as good as Tanev and not on an ELC like Tryamkin and Stecher on the RHS. Still a good player, but potentially expendable for a team looking for offence.

I'm sorry... what?

Tryamkin is a fat, overrated defenseman with #4 upside, and Kapanen is a future 30-goal man. Easy pass from the Leafs.

Don't you think come the summer, with the Leafs having cap, and young players to possibly deal, and the expansion protection lists, the Leafs will be able to procure RHD and a little more advanced in his NHL career.
