Vancouver led the league in points at Christmas, Can they continue this run into the New Year?

Canucks new years tweek…. The Lotto line.

Speaking of lines.. all 4 seem to be rolling pretty well on this team and it’s nice to see.

Would it help your understanding to show you how Canucks shots rank in the league?

5on5 High danger shot attempts for per 60min: 22nd

5on5 mid danger shot attempts for per 60min: 23rd

5on5 low danger shot attempts for per 60min: 27th

Vancouver take less low danger shots from far out than the average team but they also get less dangerous shots from in close

also here to answer your hypothetical question:

Canucks take on average 26.08 5on5 shots a game with a shooting % of 12.27
NHL average is 29.4 shots for with a shooting % of 8.7

in order for canucks to average their shooting % they would need 36.8 5on5 shots per game. so they would have needed to take 10 extra 5on5 goalless shots per game .
blah blah - calm down with the spreadsheets.

Would it help you if I gave you the only stat that counts?

26-11-3

At the end of the day the rest means Jack Squat. When I say Jack Squat I mean JACK SQUAT.

Furthermore I find it rather rich that most of the PDO / Canucks pushers are Oilers fans. Imagine where the Oilers would be without the LUCK of the league slot machine in not only drafting 4 first overall picks but, by the grace of the SLOT MACHINE - one of the greatest players in a generation fell into their lap. Thats what i call PDO. But but the Canucks have a high shooting percentage.

I want to see that 2nd line be improved. Maybe get
Mike Kelly - Rush Chance Shooting Percentage...

7%: 32nd ranked team--
11%: NHL Average--
13%: 2nd best team
14%:
15%:
16%:
17%:
18%:
19%:
20%:
21%:
22%: Canucks

Incredible.

Too many dangerous snipers
Not sure what that proves except it shows Canucks have great depth scoring and elite forwards. Showing this just shows how elite canucks are to keep it up for 40 games. I mean luck runs out after 5 or 10 or 15 games not continue on for 40 games and keep going higher to Oilers fan dismay. Or maybe just maybe, canucks play a style that inflates certain stats while showcases the fact that they have 4 scoring lines. Hoglander dunking on shesterkin plays on the 4th line with and has more goals than your beloved kane 😅 while Brown has zero goals and plays on oilers top 6. Having better depth and players with better finish on all 4 lines leads to this. Just name me a 4th line player on oilers that is on pace for 20+ goals.

You are aware that these stats are easy to look up.

But Evander Kane has 14 goals.

Hoglander has 12.

Vancouver has 6 regulars shooting above 20%.

Definitely sustainable.

You can only say regression will happen 😅 You dont know when. Is it next game? Next month? Next year?
And you guys keep talking about shooting percentage. Honestly i rather have a player with high shooting percentage than a concrete hand player in Brown who has zero goals. The player that has a high shooting percentage is showing he still has skills to finish worth a damn.

Another funny thing people said on this forum was the lack of quality opponents Canucks have faced. Well they beat NJD and one of the best teams in the league in NYR on the road. Wonder what is the next excuse canucks haters will come up with??

When the Nucks and Oilers play at the same time, is it conflicting on who to watch and support?
Its easy, he will watch Canucks PDO and Shooting percentage live🤣

Eh every team gets that said about them.
Pretty sure people say that against the Oilers and we just beat Carolina, Jersey x2, Kings and Rangers in December.

Now January… That’s an easy month.

Yeah but that was some people's reasoning on why Canucks had this great record almost halfway into the season

The schedule gets used against everyone. I mean look at the recent opponents the Jets have had to play and get to play coming up. Everyone ends up playing everyone eventually, it balances itself out. Even the division talk is overblown, they only truly bad teams in the West are Chicago, Anaheim, and San Jose.

my guess is that they end the year 6th in league points. schedule gets tougher here on out.

Maybe Vancouver should be more like Edmonton. Have zero quality depth, completely shit the bed 5 on 5, shoot pucks from the halfwall and pretty much anywhere up the ice, dress a defensive group that’s AHL quality, get 2 AHL quality goaltenders that get lit up 5 goals a game, and basically be a 1 man team.

They are very skilled. Lots of hands on that team. Dangerous team but they will hit a cold streak at some point and we will see what they are really made of.

Meh, our hardest part of the schedule was the beginning with all the back to backs with travel. We’ve been remarkably consistent regardless of circumstance.

First 20 games: 13-6-1 (27 pts)
Second 20 games: 13-5-2 (28 pts)

Sitting at that 110 point spot.

All teams will hit a cold streak, you arent predicting anything. But they have a couple of top 6 forwards like Mikheyev and Kuzmenko on a cold streak. With Canucks depth some player could go on a cold streak and they wont miss a beat. Demko has not been as elite in the past 10 games or so, letting in more soft goals. Soucy has just got into the lineup and the defense is a lot more stable now since they are 2-0 with him in the lineup since his injury. Canucks can keep rolling along at this pace. They will face Isles next which they have beaten this season, then mediocre teams like arizona, buffalo and columbus.

Lots of players shooting >20% that certainly won't continue. You can say the others will fill in but we will see.
