This thought for the trade is strenghtening both teams. Colorado has a very good blueline, but could use a Top6 player to split Rantanen/MacKinnon. They are top-heavy, but depth has been an issue. Now when MacKinnon has been out, Rantanen has still scored a lot as a C.
Vancouver could use another young puckmoving defender on a nice contract.

Colorado get:
- Bo Horvat 5.5M UFA 2023
- 2nd 2022

Vancouver get
- Samuel Girard 5.0M UFA 2027

Salaries are a wash. Vancouver add the pick because Girard is signed long-term. Byram will take Girards place on the team.

If you bothered to read anything posted by Nuck fans you'd know how far off you are

Until this fantastically amazing talent that is Byram (holy ish was he good last night) stays healthy for an extended run, Avs need to hold onto Girard closely.

and if Byram does continue to demonstrate Star ability as he has all season, then maybe Girard is traded to a team that needs an elite #3 D man this is a puck moving L shot for a top six forward that’s young and signed long term.

that team is not Vancouver. They have Q Hughes. A similar style player. They don’t have the forward of equal value/age/term. Most of their forwards are rentals pending new deals.

Close enough value wise but doesn’t fill needs for the Canucks so that obviously say no

Vancouver does NOT need a puck moving defenseman.....we need defensemen that can actually defend. Trade does nothing for us

Avs have no use for Horvat with the way Kadri is playing right now. Also Murray just got expectedly injured last game so trading Girard is a big no.

One of the worst proposals I’ve seen

You a Colorado fan I asssume??

This trade makes ZERO sense for Vancouver. We trade our captain and C (we lack depth at that position) for a small lhd (where we are deep at for undersized offensive D)
