Hopefully the Leafs come out firing on all cylinders from the opening whistle. But that doesn't seem to be possible with this group. They didn't get rolling until well into the 2nd against Ottawa, completely no-showed against Florida and took 10 minutes to wake up against Tampa Bay.

Peter Holland, Trevor Smith and Dave Bolland are all out for Toronto. Leafs coach Randy Carlyle may go with 11 forwards and seven defensemen as he did on Thursday, but will likely have to insert Colton Orr or Jerred Smithson in place of Frazer McLaren, who did not return after taking a shot off of his skate

I can't believe the Leafs don't have any option that is better than Smithson. He's absolutely useless.

Which is made even more frustrating by the fact that when they get going they're actually a pretty dangerously dynamic team. There's gotta be some sort of "on" switch for Carlyle to press, but he hasn't found it yet.

Is this the most one sided "rivalry" in the league? I didn't even know how much their fans hated us till a few years ago.

It's hilarious. They're so jealous of the media attention the leafs get to the point they are obssesed with us.

They just love to hate anything Toronto in Vancouver. Little brother syndrome at it's finest.

Excellent. 7 D equals less icetime for Franson which is the best news I've heard all day.

Well, we know that one streak ends tonight. Either their 6 game losing streak, or our 10 game losing streak to them. Something has got to give! Go Leafs!

Yup and even though he looked out of place for the few minutes he played, ya gotta factor in nerves, new linemates etc

What difference does it make if it's Smithson or Mckegg? Everyone would just complain about McKegg only getting 3 mins of ice time anyways.

Holland and Bolland should be good to go after the break. We need some real NHL quality centers, these AHL call ups and 4th liners aren't difference makers.

1) Because if its someone that can be relied for more than 2-3 minutes a game that'd be nice

2) Because McKegg has a future in the organization and Smithson wont after June.

3) Because Smithson cant skate to save his life. I havent skated in 5 years and I could do laps around him.

He pretty much goes with 10 forwards every night with how little he plays the 4th line anyway. Might as well scratch one of the plugs and get Ranger in there to lighten the work load of the other 6 d-men.

I may be the minority, but I don't think McKegg is ready for the NHL. He got a taste, now take that motivation and see you at NHL training camp.

Why not give him a bigger taste, especially if Smithson has proven he can't play at this level any longer?

Why respond to the mouth breathing trolls from V.City that are just like the trolls from every other NHL city, including TO. I know many Canuck fans that are not like the trolls in the media and talk show cesspools. To judge a city by the most vocal morons is dangerous for Leaf fans because having the largest fan base gives us, by definition, the largest number of morons. I for one, do not wished to be judged by the actions of the most rabid Leaf fans. I'm sure Canuck fans feel the same. To say that Canuck fans think such and such because of a few posts on a message board is stupid beyond all comprehension.

Because he looked like he was drowning in his game. He wasn't trying to play, he was trying to survive. Much like Brayden Irwin and Christian Hanson did in their debuts. Not that he's destined to be like them, but boy was he ever raw.

If we're at the point that a raw prospect is next in line for NHL ice, I'd much rather just put a claim in for Colin Fraser, who went on waivers today.
