So basically the only way he puts up 17 or more goals is if he plays with the Sedins? Which is also very much not a guarantee? So if we made this trade we would basically be giving up the only players he would succeed with?

Again not a trade we would make.

That's for the 21 year old Burakovsky. Eventually he'll be good enough to score 25-30 goals on a consistent basis without the help of an elite playmaker at ES. He can already do damage on the PP with his shot, but there's no place for him except doing Johansson's job down low on the second wave, which would be a waste of his skill.

I expect Burakovsky to become a good 1st line winger, but the package is not worth the Sedins.

You're giving up the best players he could succeed with in 2015-16 as a 20/21 year old, yes. You're not giving up on the success he could find with the team in 2017 or 2018 or 2019, etc.

I wouldn't make this trade for Washington, but Andre Burakovsky is exactly the type of player that Vancouver should be looking for as a return for the Sedins.

You also completely ignored the powerplay line. He could very well score 17 last year without the Sedins if given PP1 minutes.

We need two things a young player who can replacer Hank eventually and young Blue Liners. Those are the exact type of players we are looking for. If we traded for Burakovsky whose to say he doesn't regress it's not like it hasn't happened before, we know full well with the Hodgson fiasco here.

Would you be happier with the package offered here or would you rather them get their points for the next 2 years on a non playoff team and walk? Im aware that they aren't really ever going to be "on the block" because it is a ridic task to trade both but if you are VAN you aren't going to get a better package, maybe the 2nd round pick can be withdrawn id be fine w that edit.

They aren't going to walk. If they don't retire outright, you'll probably see one year deals until they do. Both Henrik and Daniel have openly expressed their intent on finishing their careers as Canucks. They have no interest whatsoever in playing for another team even if that means never winning a cup.
