Dermott was looking like a top 4 before his shoulder injury a few years ago. He can skate like hell. Not a bad player at all. Sandin is better though. That's really why he can't crack the lineup full time.

Would much rather have kept the third.
They couldn't have got this guy for a 6th or something?
at this rate I would rather have Stetcher for a 7th, and Stetcher sucks.

Pretty happy with a 3rd rounder at this point. Canucks will be happy too though, Dermott is a decent player with a bit of upside. Shame it never worked in Toronto, I wish him the best.

I’ll eat crow here! Said Vancouver would never want Toronto’s scraps like Dermott in any deal. Looks like I’m the fool. Hope our management knows something more than me! I personally don’t like this for us.
No need to overthink it. A serviceable NHL D man for a pick that has like a 10% chance to be a regular NHLer. HF hella overrates draft picks

2nd round pick would've been amazing, 3rd was good. Would've taken a 4th, annoyed at 5th+

Think it's a good move for both teams tbh. I was worried he didn't have any value after being scratched so much but he should still be worth it for the Canucks.

Good luck Dermott. Great guy (apparently) but kind of hit a wall in development. Whether that's because of less ice time, or the other way around, I guess we'll see.

I think this is good value for the Canucks. Dermott, at the very least, is a young, good bottom pairing d-man. The hope is he can be more than that and that's easily worth what they paid. He struggled when playing higher up on the Leafs, but maybe he figures it out in Vancouver.

For the Leafs, with the emergence of Sandin, he didn't really have a place here anymore.

Disgusting, I hate it.

Hamonic for Dermott I guess is easier to stomach, but I just don't like Dermott at all.

Good riddance Dermott, he was good for about 2 years post draft then really fell off.
Best part about a Leaf getting traded is when the fans all come out and act like the player wasn’t a loss. I remember a month ago when Dermott was a “top 4 defenseman that needed more ice time.” Now he’s trash

He fetched you guys what Hamonic returned, in 2022

I dont know why some Canucks fans are hating on this. Dermott is a young d with upside on a decent contract who is under team control and now on. his second team meaning he has something to prove. Lots of historical reference to these types of players blossoming on their new teams. These are exactly the types of deals the canucks should be making.

Honestly I wonder if Dubas took less to trade Dermott to a team where he will be given the best opportunity. He was drafted #34 (4th pick in the 2nd round) and I expect that's at least where his value should have been

lol ok...

I would have taken a 3rd for Dermott over 2 years ago. Big swing and a miss here.

edit: "a month ago Dermott was a top 4 D" = I'm incredibly desperate for attention from Leafs fans tbh.

Alright late to the party here today, is this the VAN part of the Gio to TOR deal, or is this an entirely separate deal, or do we know yet?
