Any leaf fans updated scouting report on Dermott? I know he showed lots of potential but haven't really noticed him much these last couple of years.
Player who looked good when sheltered/3rd pairing.

Not good when he played anything above that

Dermott is a decent skater, but he makes some really ridiculous plays in the defensive zone. And offers next to nothing offensively. I really thought he would push to be a 2nd pairing type player a few years ago, but he's a bottom pairing guy every day of the week.

5'11 broke man's Brent Burns. Great athleticism, can't really decide if he wants to be an offensive or defensive D and ends up half assing both. If he's playing off instinct he can tilt the ice with his skating for a couple shifts but struggles playing a rigid system. I could see him bouncing around the league for a decade as a #4/5 if someone gets him to focus in on becoming a specialist of some kind instead of trying to be a jack of all trades.

Dermott has been a fine player he just got passed by Sandin on the depth chart. Skates well, plays with some intensity, tries to do too much sometimes and he over uses his head fakes, which now ive told you you will never be unable to not notice.

I’ll eat crow here! Said Vancouver would never want Toronto’s scraps like Dermott in any deal. Looks like I’m the fool. Hope our management knows something more than me! I personally don’t like this for us.

Hamonic for Dermott? Save 1.5m and get a better player? I guess I'll take it. So weird to move an RHD for an LHD though when we NEEED RHD. only makes sense if we play Dermott on offhand
Dermott has spent a lot of time playing the right side (in the NHL)

He can crush soft deployment, a useful player. Think he will help Vancouver.

Happy the Leafs got a 3rd because I was afraid being scratched so much meant they'd get less.

Dumb Leafs fans have been trying to jam Dermott onto the right side for years and it was always a disaster.

Your management, albeit Benning, had been picking up our scraps off waivers for a while.

No he hasnt. And when he has its been a train wreck.
I haven't been a fan of his since his rookie stint. But yea, he has played quite a bit on the right side. Not saying I ever thought he looked good there though.
