Wasn’t a fan of Sprong really so this doesnt bother me…you can see he’s a really skilled guy, but I wasn’t a fan of the work ethic or hockey IQ….doesnt play defense, isn’t positionally sound and just seems to launch pucks at the net…he’s easily replaced.

I imagine Joshua is an option at home next game, and they'll call up Bains on the road.

In a way, the timing with the Boeser injury makes sense. If you still can't move Sprong up the lineup even when there's a golden opportunity, then that's probably a sign it won't work out.

I mean, Sprong was a guy that nobody wanted last summer who has 0 ESG so far this season. It isn't really that shocking. No coaches seem to like him, and no coach on a winning team has ever liked him.

I was hopeful he'd find a spot as a second unit PP guy who could take the occasional top-6 shift, but given he couldn't earn the coach's trust and wasn't able to saw off low event minutes on the 4th line this move makes sense.

Part of this may relate to Raty's ability to play 4C. That frees up Pius to play as a winger in the top 6 where he is a better fit than Sprong.
