In 2024, don't you dare call him names, so you don't, he (him) comes right back to get you, do you know of who or what I am speaking of?
I don't really care.

In 2024 if you can't ignore when someone calls you a name, then you've got bigger issues. Especially when your reaction has a negative effect on those around you.

So if we don’t have Sim. Who would be the agitator. He is the Rupert of this year. Unless we go out and get McCue from Owen Sound then the sim move would make sense. McCue can play a lot of roles… would thrive not being the go to guy hwre
You can have McGuire...

Maybe they did?

Again, neither one of us were there
We were not no, but based off the report from Sim's suspension last year in the playoffs both players said derogatory comments towards each other yet only one of them was suspended. Apparently telling someone you are going to kill them is A-OK on the ice. I can go to jail for it anywhere else though.

Bingo ! It should not concern you either, precisely.
I never said it did.

I'm not talking about last years suspension. I'm talking about the current suspension. The really boneheaded one where he should have known better because he was suspended already.

Yes I understand that, but how do we know that the Soo player never said he was going to kill him like Hache did. The transparency is zero meaning the league is trying to hide something once again.

It is hard to conclude that Sim is an "idiot" when we have zero clue what came his way first. If he is sticking up for a teammate or defending himself I do not personally feel anything is wrong with that. Once again we have zero context so how do you know he was doing something "Stupid" ...that street goes both ways. You can't condemn me for having no context when you are trying to put the shoe on the other foot using the same context.

Your very own words Otto ; "I'm not talking about last years suspension" and further down on the very next paragraph "he should have known better because he was suspended already."- Wouldn't you agree each suspension should be dealt with on its very own merit though

You also called him "boneheaded" should you be suspended?

Again, back to the electrical outlet analogy. He put himself into a situation where he would be punished for a similar thing he did less than a year ago. It's stupid. You feel you or a teammate were wronged? Take the number and address it later. Or better yet, beat them on the scoreboard.

Again your analogy does not apply to this situation with the given context we were provided. You are comparing apples and oranges on a long winding road with that analogy.

So you don't feel that Sim should have known the potential for suspension given the fact that he committed a similar offence in less than a year?

Agree to disagree. If a player gets to this level of hockey and doesn't realize that, then they are a dumb player.

It's weird you had nothing to say about Ethan Hay being suspended.

How do we know that the Soo player did not say that Sim's Scotian Accent sounded "silly" ( as I do not want to say the other word here). There is ZERO context

If a player is using derogatory comments towards you, I sure as hell hope you are standing up for yourself. If that is the case it is hard to call him dumb. If it is not then obviously it is dumb. With what we have been given we can't pass judgement one way or another regardless of what happened last year.

Sim is actually a smart player who rides the line most nights. He finds unique ways to get under the opponent’s skin

If your kid gets suspended from school for calling a teacher a dickwad.. then less than a year later does it again do you think your kid was smart?

It doesn't matter that was or wasn't said previous. Grow a pair and move on. Since the days of dropping the puck for league games on the Rideau River, players have always taken a number and got back at a player. First offence? Sure, I'd grant some leeway. Second offence or more? Nope.. plain stupid. As I said, you want to stand up to a player fine, but don't do it in a way that you know is going to get you suspended.

Context or not, you continue to fail to address my question: Do you feel that Sim should have known there was the potential for suspension given his previous actions? Yes or No?

I think

Sounds like it's the other way around. Twice now opponents have got the better of him

What’s the word on Halttunnen. I forget who said he is likely on his way, but can you share further info. If not him then who will be our 2nd import?

I'd argue that each suspension was dealt with on it's own merit. he got 5 last time, should have been more this time as a repeat offender. Regardless, I'll ask you the same question that Dino doesn't want to answer: Do you feel that Sim should have known better that there was the potential for suspension given his previous suspension less than a year ago?

And sure, feel free to suspend me from the OHL

The answer to that is an absolute big fat NO

The league rule is vague, it is not etched in stone, chirping is and always been part of the game, and it is hardly ever taken serious, until very recently that is. The league wants the players not to say something against the church, they need to spell them out in the rule book, so are the ones against someone nationality, or politic, what ever it is, spell out the words in the rule book. So teams can educate their players what are the no no's of the league. Personally I think his suspension and the likes are baseless, they are not serious intention, they are made in the heat of actions as a form of chirping one another, it is a part of the game, or at least it used to be. Until the league clearly spells out their rules properly, so players fully understand their standing, the rule is baseless, until they are spelled out, they are senseless and ridiculous punishment. That's my take on this game of back and forth chirping

Again, speculating about the church...

But, can you let me know which part is "vague"?

OHL Policy states that, “all players have the right to participate in the Ontario Hockey League in a safe and healthy environment which promotes equal opportunities and prohibits discriminatory practices. All forms of harassment and abuse including, but not limited to, taunts and slurs and comments based on race, age, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, creed, gender, sexual orientation, marital status or disability will not be tolerated and are completely unacceptable under any circumstances.”

All OHL players and staff are educated on the OHL’s Diversity Policy that prohibits discriminatory comments of this nature during Players First training that member teams are mandated to conduct prior to the start of each season. Rico Phillips, the OHL’s Director of Culture and Community, is following-up with the player involved in an effort to educate and prevent future occurrences.

This violation of the League’s Code of Conduct carries with it a minimum five-game suspension,

I hope Landon just takes the 5 games like a pro, maybe take his car towards Alymer and help plow a field or two.
