Confirmed with Link: [VAN/Pit] Vincent Desharnais, Danton Heinen, Melvin Fernstrom, & 1st (NYR) for Marcus Pettersson (LD) & Drew O'Connor (W)

We need three more Petterssons, two forward, one goalie, then we can ice 6, count 'em, SIX, Petterssons.

We gonna be the Petterssonest Pettersson of all Petterssons.

PETTERSSON!
It ranks right up there with when they had 3 Sedins.

and we paid for that. this is a benning trade paying to unload mistakes because we can't wait.

i don't think marcus pettersson is good enough to make this trade let alone the fact he's an expiring ufa whose agent is going to bend us over now.

what this tells us is this management group is desparate. i sense that idiot aquilini manchild's presence. he must have leverage over them.
Benning dont trade away his mistakes, he double and triple down on them and that’s why he f***ing suck shit and is one of the worst GM in this league

They're trying to retool. Which honestly isn't at all a bad idea with the current core.

Pettersson gives you a stable 2nd pair LHD who can hopefully play with Willander next season and help carry that pairing.

If you took at the UFA next season, it's dire. Unless you want to overpay for Eklab, it's pretty much a desert.

Where’s the patience to unearth and scout for a younger top 4 D we could package KK/EP2 and a 1st for or something?

Guy is 29 heading into UFA. Decent defensively yet can’t skate it out and isn’t overly physical, metrics looking average this year.

Horrible trade imho.

Where’s the offense? Our top 6 is neutered.

We need another C.

Trade Boeser for a couple 2nds or a 1st.

Then use the picks and go get a young Top 6 C, ideally a RFA with huge potential.

Be honest. Outside of Hughes and Sherwood theirs nobody on this team that’s likeable or exciting.

What a boring terrible roster. Lol. Jesus Christ.

We went from a potential contender to the Flames in 1 year.
How the hell does anyone hate Garland. Probably our best player after Quinn. Probably my next untouchable after Quinn lol

After reflecting on the deal a bit, if he rebounds his defensive game to be a bonafide number 3 and they re-sign him, the trade is worth it. The defense next year will have gone from being a major sore point to a big plus if Willander is as good as I think he is.

In the interim, I'm very curious if Tocchet is willing to bend on his LHD/RHD thing, because Forbert has clearly been miles ahead of Juulsen.

On the downside, this management inherited 3 borderline 1C centers, and now we only have one. Cap space is nice and all, but the free agent crop next year up front looks putrid (there's no way Marner & Rantanen are making it to free agency, nevermind signing here).

Not sure what they're going to do to fix a forward core that's clearly lacking talent, and the guys in the AHL haven't shown that they can fill the gaps in the top 6 where it's sorely needed.

Fully expecting that trade to happen now and really confuse everyone what the hell we are doing. They’re trying to compete but are getting worse.

I think I’ve seen this movie before.
On brand. I'm fully expecting them to trade any asset from a Boeser trade for Mikael Granlund.

What is likely a #13-17 pick for a soon to be 29 year old pending UFA? This sucks. Echoing others we better extend him at a good price.

We dump Desharnais and Heinan but this is just fixing unforced errors.

Speaking of Heinan, I am going to bet he plays for the Ducks again before he is out of the league.

If M. Petey goes unsigned, this is a gongshow of a trade.

If he signs for decent $/term, that fixes up an issue with the D. We need some more muscle up front though, and now we trade our D problem for a C problem.

Somehow Jet Black Jim never left:

If he was in charge we would've retained on Miller, taken on Lindgren, and added a 7th just because whatever right?

This is more Bukrean or Nonisean, especially if it sours. Same owner, same pattern really.

I mean, they have most definitely have already talked to the agent before the trade went down. I doubt this is just a rental.

We can lie to NBA/NFL fans and say we have three brothers on one team. The team has Quinn Hughes who will attract a certain percentage of first time watchers to make them stay for good

Might work to market the game or just Canucks
