Guy is 29 heading into UFA. Decent defensively yet can’t skate it out and isn’t overly physical, metrics looking average this year.

Young top 4D aren’t available for rental prices. You trade for them for like a 2C or 1W. We don’t have the assets for that type of trades.
The most realistic ones are getting a Guentzel type player or top4 UFA D and then try to sign another UFA in July.

It's because Hronek is not playing like a #3 Dman (if he ever was one).

They needed a legit #3 dman to stabilize him and make the 2nd pairing strong enough to spell Hughes-Myers.

From an outsider perspective I think you guys did great if you look at both trades overall. You needed a top 4 Dman, you got a really good one. You needed better depth up front, got that too with O’Connor who’s a nice player. Mancini is a good get for depth on the blueline.

And on top of that you cleared a bunch of cap space when no one has cap space. Opens the door to nice opportunities either now or during the offseason.

My opinion… Nucks are in a better position today than they were a few days ago. Assuming Pettersson re-signs as well.

Good teams always start with good defense and good defensemen are nearly impossible to acquire nowadays.

Sneaky work by Allvin here IMO. Not flashy names but good solid players. That’s what you guys need. In the end the deal gets you guys 4 players + whoever you can add with the cap space. Amazing return for Miller.

Chytil + Pettersson is about as good a return for Miller as I could've hoped for. O'Connor and Mancini are also interesting pieces.

So after all the smoke clears, incoming are Mancini, Chytil, another Pettersson (Marcus) and Drew O'Connor. Heading out of town are Miller, Desharnais, Brannstrom, Heinen and prospects Dorringtom and Fernstrom and the Rangers first rounder flipped four hours after the Canucks acquired it.

It's terrible on the surface--but I doubt the Canucks are done yet. We'll see what they get for Boeser. But these are ugly times for Canuck fans.
