So Miller and a few Cap dumps for Chytil, Pettersson, DOC and some Cap space that allows you a stud player at the deadline. There is a plan in place and a RHD defensive D was a top priority along with a Center

So Vancouver gives up the first from New York Plus garbage for a #4 damn plus more garbage.

I guess it's worth it.

I hope Desharnais can turn things around with the Penguins. I really liked him at times with Edmonton last year

It’s been a long couple of months waiting for this to go down. Ruthervin did as well as could be expected given the situation. Happy it’s over now and some cautious optimism about the next couple of years (need to resign new Petey)

So the trade works out to Pettersson, Drew O’Connor, Chytil and a ton of Cap space. You can leverage or trade for an absolute stud. Now is Willander available?

So… RHD defensive D is still a priority then?

Pettersson is left handed.

With the way Soucy's game has cratered this season a top 4 LHD is perfectly fine.

Myers has played well, they have Hronek, and then also Willander coming who will sign at the end of the year (they have no one of his caliber coming on the left side). So some reason for optimism on the right side.

Does this kind of lock them in to keeping Boeser? Would be kind of weird trading a 1st for Pettersson and at the same time selling on Boeser. It would be worse losing Boeser for nothing.

They have a bunch more cap space and certainly have the need for top 6 talent. I’d be surprised now if they didn’t keep him, which I’m fine with

Canucks lose a locker room cancer that had them handcuffed and turned it into players who can help along with getting younger. Pettersson is a modern day Tanev and Drew is a stud 3rd liner along with Chytil who was strapped to the 3rd line. I’d say fair trade all around. They gained a ton of Cap space as well by the VD and DH Cap dumps.

Canucks get younger and can still add. A player

The other thing to consider here is. Vancouver just gave up assets for a UFA dman.

Either they lose him to free agency or they end up giving him a bloated contract.
Bloated contract? Congecture much? Show your math how you have figured out that he will get a bloated contract? Also...define bloated contract given the new salary cap projections.

Canucks have Willander. A Stud RHD

Ok, neat.

Your post said a defensive RHD was a priority. You’ve had Willander since the 2023 draft.

Pettersson is left handed.

So, is a defensive RHD still a priority?

Or did you get Pettersson’s handedness mixed up, thought he was RH, and tried to say the Canucks addressed all of their priorities?

10m in deadline space and cleared 12.5 next season, they have like 30m in space next season.
Holy smokes

they are going to roll Pettersson -Hronek

Hughes - Myers are excelling on first pair

But we’ll see how long it lasts, Hughes got banged up today as well

How many Pettersons?

Or is EP40 on the way out... and in a classic GM move, we have two Petterson's to prevent plummeting jersey sales? Jokes aside, I hope it doesn't happen. I really think it would be a Cam Neely-esque mistake.
