Hit a nerve uh? Crosby staying with the joke that is the current edition of the Pens is actively hurting his legacy. If he stays he doesn't finish his career strong and just racks up a couple of meaningless 70-80 pts yrs on a team trying desperately to delay the rebuild with 0 assets whatsoever.
Hurting his legacy how? His legacy is cemented as a top 5 player all time. His age 36- 40 seasons will change that?

Doesn’t look like a strong roster to me. Teams like this shouldn’t be trading mid first round picks

They didn’t. They traded Miller and they made the playoffs last year. The pick acquired was an intermediary for this trade obviously.

They also have 10M in cap space to add a player either now or in the offseason. I think they’ll be in a good spot.

It would truly be hilarious if the Rangers 1st rounder moved to 2026 and became a #1 overall again for the Pens. On balance - and given the realities on the ground - I’m p okay with the deals today. Hope Hughes isn’t hurt after todays game.

For those in this thread bemoaning the fact that they missed out on Miller, he had a NMC. He controlled where he went. And it feels like this move was in part about personal matters as well as locker room issues, so that may have influenced the location too.

Can a Canucks fan explain why I'm seeing so many comments celebrating getting rid of the bad Desharnais and Heinen contracts and paying a premium to do so? It doesn't look like they really need to shed cap. If they were both buried, they'd be under $2M combined, and the team looks to have a substantial amount of room. What am I missing?
They are both signed next season so it's like they wiped their hands clean and create $4.5 cap space for 2025/26 season. That is why they are happy about it. Not exactly happy about losing extra pick but help will come 4-5 years down the road if NYR finishes low this year. Having to think about creating space for Hughes next contract as well.

Yeah I am sure that Hughes is much happier now

If the team makes the playoffs for the next two years he's more likely to stay than if they sell all the other stars and miss the playoffs until he's a UFA...

The reports were that Hughes (or "other stars") was also sick of Miller's BS and I'm sure he's stoked to have some more help on defense

The other thing to consider here is. Vancouver just gave up assets for a UFA dman.

Either they lose him to free agency or they end up giving him a bloated contract.
If they can sign him to something like 6x6 it would be a solid deal, he's only 28. If the Pens weren't heading for the basement for the next few years I absolutely would have wanted them to re-sign him.

I cannot even remember when the Canucks had used their two first round pick in same draft year since Sedins. Guess this will have to wait until the owner sell the team.
