Pettersson was prob worth around a high 2nd or late 1st on his own. Fact we got rid of our most useless player and another bad player is prob why it cost the 1st it did. I don't think its a bad trade at all .

Pettersson was getting a 1st guaranteed at the deadline. Maybe not this high but he had a lot of value. Not many Dmen of his caliber available and good Dmen always go at a premium.

With a salary of 4M and the way he can play there wouldve been 10 teams calling Dubas for him.

He will probably be 2C, I think he's been really underrated. I also think M Pettersson has gotten pretty underrated too, his stats compared to the rest of the penguins are pretty damn good.

Look at the defense this year though. Absolutely tanked. I expect it to be better in a better defensive environment in Vancouver, but Nucks fans better hope that is the case haha.

Let's see but it was a expensive acquisition. Hope it all works out.

Most Canucks fans would have done their 1st for Pettersson very early on in the season, in my opinion he was the best FA defenseman available, and the Canucks specifically needed a puck mover, which he excels at.

All players, not just defense, but yes.

If he can act like a Quinn Hughes Jr. for Hronek, then the Canucks just got miles better than they were this morning.

Wait, didn't someone post a three-way trade proposal this past off-season where the Canucks traded JT Miller, Brannstrom, Heinen, Desharnais, Fernstrom, and Dorrington for Chytil, Mancini, M. Pettersson, and O'Connor?

Essentially the Canucks’ two trades with the Rangers and Penguins are a three-way-trade: they were just talking on separate phone lines instead of a conference call.

Geniunely don't understand how people think this is a bad deal for VAN? Along with the Miller trade, they cleared a bit of cap off their books after this year, upgraded their top 4 and got a guy to play on the 4th line.

They now have more flexibility to re-sign Pettersson and/or make additional moves in the summer.
Because most people don't look at CAP as Value, which is kind annoying 2bh.
The issue tho is they SIGNED these players in the offseason and paid to get rid of them

It's fine value, unless the Rangers implode and that pick bounces to next year and they implode more. Then it's really not. But it's mostly good. It really depends on whether Van adds more though, because as they are I don't think they are a contender anymore.

He's much better defensively than his numbers suggest this year. Pens as a team have cratered. Have no doubt he'll be excellent for Vancouver.

I think it's solid for both. Petts will be good there. He's a good player.

There is nothing about MP that is Quinn Hughes Jr but he's a bonafide #3 defenseman and the Nucks needed one
