Confirmed with Link: [VAN/NYR] JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, & Jackson Dorrington for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, and 1st 2025 (Top-13 Protected, Unprotected after)

Trying to think positive. Look at how Byram turned things around in Buffalo. He was fading in Colorado with the exact same concerns as Chytil: one hit away from being retired. Now he's firmly established himself as a top four and is having a solid season. Yes, the health risk is still there, but who knows how things will turn out.

There’s also players like Crosby and Bergeron who were considered one hit away in their mid20s and ended up playing until their late 30s at a high level.

i hope they just kinda chill the rest of the season. maybe trade suter and boeser at the deadline but hold onto the picks until the draft at least. if they're buyers at the deadline i'm gonna be deeply disappointed

For me it depends on the hypothetical deal that they will make.

But yeah, this trade REEKS of the foul stench not dissimilar to that of Commando Dimbo.

And again, our PR department all need to be fired, every last mother f***ing one of them.

The return is less than ideal, but I think Canucks fans have been massively overvaluing MIller for years now.

Clearly his reputation in the league hasnt' changed much, despite his season last year and the contract probably doesn't help either.

At least now we get to dump a contract that's about to turn sour fast into assets and a lot of cap flexibility to hopefully build this team around Hughes.

It just never made any sense to me why you would build your window around Miller's prime years rather than Hughes'.

Yeah, well, Rutherford warned us...
The GM warned us that he couldn't do his job competently.

If the Vancouver sun cares at all about Vancouver's local sports teams, the entire first page of tomorrow's newspaper should read "fire Rutherford before it's too late."

It's been speculated that Boeser will also be traded. I have my doubts that Vancouver will be getting a player in return that can compete now as well as Boeser can.

Only last week there were rumblings that Demko isn't happy, either

Really need a new GM before you guys get stuck in full blown Kevin Lowe mode.

How long until Rutherford/Mason leak all the Miller stories?

He's clearly Rutherford's mouthpiece so I'd expect soon.

They gotta make Miller look bad so people aren't as upset at the lacklustre return.

But don't forget that they were actively shopping Pettersson just the same.

So they were willing to keep Miller instead. Yet we'll probably hear leaks soon about how he "had to go."

It sucks. Upset about the whole situation - but it is what it is.

I will miss JT Miller. A lot of great memories and was a true warrior for us last season.

I remember saying if both guys couldn’t figure it out to make it work - I would trade both. I still stand by that, so I would trade Pettersson before his NMC and rebuild this team.

They really did just do Kesler for Bonino, Sbisa and a 1st all over again.

Somehow we got a worse player than Bonino (with concussion problems to boot), a defenseman who's not at the level Sbisa was at (may end up better, but not holding my breath), and a 1st that may not convert until next year.

And instead of giving up a guy coming off a 43 point year, we're giving up the 100 point guy who's still playing at a PPG level.

This is a fireable offense with how bad the return is. Maybe the locker room gets better & everyone plays better afterwards, but man every single year the Canucks have competed I wish they could give up this little to get a 1st line caliber talent.

Just depressing.

Jfc…

Where tf has everyone been?

At zero point should anyone have thought the return was gonna be significant after all this laundry was aired.

The fact a trade was even able to be made is remarkable.

I don’t think it’ll be hard to make Miller look bad. He’s done a good enough job himself. I bet the story truly is understated on JT’s involvement.

The real story will come out one day and we will be like, oh yeah…makes sense.

Both players are huge babies.

I am willing to bet there was little to no intention of moving Pettersson. How many players are you gonna trade because of one asshole? Miller, by all accounts, has made himself look bad.

I think you're lost.

We know how this management team operates. The trade that happened today isn't going to be the final result.

If the package the first and turn it into a young defender or center, it changes the outlook for the team. If Mancini comes in and is good enough to keep Deharnais, Juulsen etc out if the line up, that's a win in my book.

That’s the thing for me. A big part of this trade was creating flexibility. Now they have two big holes to fill but have cap space and an additional pretty valuable asset.

The reporting hasn't been keeping Miller instead of Pettersson.

Drance and Dhaliwal have been really firm on this.

Two months ago, they made the call. It's Miller alone or Miller AND Pettersson.

Ah, the Gillis method.

Dude torched CoHo after the loss to LA.

Out of all things Benning did this was the one of the very few I think he did a decent job. That trade was not bad the season before Kesler was trade he had 26 even strength points in 77 games. Had major injury questions mark, just turned 30 with a lot of mileage , and publicly asked to be traded and only would be waive for two teams.

Probably the worst return for a star player in a long time.

Godspeed, JT. Will always have some fond memories of you here, but all of this going sideways is on you.

Nah man, I've been here every other day for the past week or two.

I even joined you guys for a game thread and cheered you on!

I'm pretty sure I was the only person in the game day thread that believed you guys were going to beat Nashville.
